Chef Marcos Spaziani Shares an Exciting Update on His Culinary Career

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht chef is “pretty booked,” to say the least.

By Abby Feiner & Casey Suglia

As Captain Glenn Shephard reflected on the final charter of the season during the June 20, 2022 episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, he took a moment to praise Chef Marcos Spaziani’s work. “Marcos, you had some of the most challenging dietary restrictions and a wedding cake,” he said.

With a laugh, he added, “All I can say is please, please never leave.”

Like most of the crew, Marcos did eventually depart Parsifal III, and it’s no surprise that his culinary career is continuing to thrive outside of the galley. “My life right now is crazy,” Marcos shared on the June 27, 2022 Season 3 reunion. “I opened a restaurant in downtown L.A., I opened a bar, and I open another restaurant in two months in Koreatown.”

Additionally, Marcos explained that he now has “a contract with UCLA,” adding, “That’s what I’m doing right now, cooking for 1,600 people per day. So, yeah, I’m pretty booked all the time.”

Where is Marcos Spaziani’s restaurant?

Marcos is the current chef — alongside Chef Louis Huh — at Lou’mar at Nerano, which opened in September 2023. It's located right above the Italian restaurant, Nerano Beverly Hills, at 9960 S Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, California and already has highly rated reviews.

The menu is a combination of Korean and Venezuelan flavors, featuring dishes like a kimchi seafood paella and soy glazed lamb chops. Yum.

“Our menu is a celebration of street food from South America and Asia, meticulously elevated to meet the standards of Western fine dining culture,” Marcos explained in a caption on Instagram. “Every bite is a fusion of flavors that will transport your taste buds to new heights.”

In addition to Lou’Mar at Nerano, Marcos and Louis also run a hospitality company, ML Eats, together. This venture is in charge of their catering operations and the Instagram account keeps people updated on what the chefs are up to next, including their food trucks and pop ups.

Lou'Mar isn’t Marcos or Louis’ first restaurant: The two previously opened the Los Angeles based restaurant, Marlou, before announcing in September 2023 that he would be closing Marlou and opening up a new restaurant, soon.

Does Marcos Spaziani have a wife?

Between running his restaurant, his hospitality company, and cooking up a storm, Marcos has his hands full, which has lead fans to wonder if he has any time for relationships.

However, he is pretty quiet when it comes to his love life, therefore it is unclear if he's married or in a relationship. His Instagram account, @chefmarcospaziani, is devoted to his career, not his personal life. You’ll find Marcos posting photos of his food, with celebrity visitors, and throwbacks from his time on the Parsifal III.

What you won’t find is photos of Marcos with any significant others.

During his season of Below Deck, Marcos did not hook up with any of his fellow crew members. In April 2022, he took to X (then known as Twitter) to share why this was the case. “Not [any] of the girls are my type and I decided to be focus on my food and just have fun and make friends,” he wrote.

What happened to Marcos Spaziani after Below Deck?

During the reunion, which took place during an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the titular host asked Glenn, “Is Marcos one of the best chefs you’ve ever worked with?” and the captain had nothing but rave reviews to share.

“Absolutely,” he said. “The guy’s a legend. He pushes himself so hard, but he can hold it together... Amazing chef, amazing food, amazing guy.”

Colin MacRae had similar feelings and specifically shouted out Marcos’ take on molecular gastronomy. “He blew my mind. That sh-t’s not easy. I haven’t seen anything like that on a yacht before.”

In spite of having his own restaurant on land now, Marcos said, in a September 2023 interview with Dexerto, that he would want to go back to cooking on boats but it does have its hardships.

“Working in boats, it’s a very lonely life,” he said. “It’s great money, you travel around the world, it’s beautiful — but you’re pretty much alone all the time. You’re around a lot of people, but not the people you want to be with.”

That said, he told Dexerto that a return to Below Deck is “not gonna happen.”
