According to the dating app Hinge, reported in Travel + Leisure, travel pics are 30 percent more likely to get likes than other categories of photos. The finding comes from 180,000 posts analyzed by data scientists, who found that just about 3.4 percent of pics uploaded to the site overall were from users’ travels, but those are the ones slaying the interaction game.
Delving a bit deeper into the findings, it seems that women are 33 percent more likely to respond to travel photos than men are. And particular destinations get more interaction — with island snaps leading the pack.
Consider that women who post pics rom Maui get 60 percent more likes than they might expect on a typical photo. Santorini — the Greek island that affords of the world’s most famous and dramatic ocean views — received 93 percent more likes.
And how’s this for a fascinating gender divide? Men who post travel shots from Portland get 56 percent more likes… and those from Munich get 210 percent more!
