This Is Selena Gomez Like We've NEVER Seen Her Before (And We're So Here For It)

In her only televised performance of 2017, Selena Gomez slayed her new single "Wolves" on the American Music Awards on November 19. But, even before she took the stage for her killer performance, the 25-year-old made a major splash on the red carpet. Not only did Gomez wear an edgy style that turned heads, she also shocked fans by trading in her famous brunette locks for a platinum blonde style. That's right, everyone: Selena Gomez has gone to the light side. 

Earlier in the day, the singer took to Instagram to share the surprising beauty news. "So I am blonde now," she wrote, to caption a picture that showed off her newly lightened tresses. (How Gomez held back from adding all the exclamation point in the world to that caption, we'll never know. But, it's a study in restraint.) The 13 Reasons Why producer worked with stylist Nikki Lee of Los Angeles salon Nine Zero one on the edgy new look, which used color from Garnier. 

Blonde, indeed! For her red-carpet appearance, Gomez paired her tousled lob — which lets her brown roots show through, rock-star style — with a custom leather moto dress by Coach. (Remember, the singer often collaborates with the classic American brand.) She paired the style with a quilted bag, embellished pumps, and a swipe of dark-pink lipstick. Manicurist Tom Bachik polished Gomez's nails with OPI's dark-red shade Malaga Wine. 

A brand new hairstyle goes hand in hand with a fresh start, and it looks like Gomez is on the brink of one. After an emotional year that saw her facing down a kidney transplant and a public breakup, the singer looks fiercer than ever. She's had a run of hit singles, and seems to be in a newly rekindled relationship with Justin Bieber, to boot!
