The Theme For the 2018 Met Gala Is...

And just wait till you hear who the hosts are.

Go Inside the 2017 Met Gala

The 2018 Met Gala is going to be heavenly — and not just because Rihanna will be there. Vogue's legendary bash, scheduled for May 7, 2018, will have the just-announced theme "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination."

An exhibition of the same name will show at The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute from May 10 to October 8, 2018, and will display some 150 garments that highlight the influence of ecclesiastical garments on high fashion. All your fashion faves — Donatella Versace, Christian Dior, and Coco Chanel — will have outfits on display. So if you're not in New York, now's a good time to start scoping airfares

This theme has us so anxious for springtime to arrive. First of all, can you imagine how the world's best-dressed stars will interpret a Heavenly dress code?  We're picturing lots of gold, a smattering of rich blue fabrics and celestial accessories, and, OK, Rihanna — looking heavenly.

The "Wild Thoughts" singer basically wins the Met Gala every year, but this year, the stakes for her finding a fabulous outfit are even higher. Along with Donatella Versace and Amal Clooney, Rihanna will serve as a host for this year's fund-raiser.

And while we don't know which other celebrities will earn a coveted invitation to the gala, we're crossing our fingers for another Sarah Jessica Parker and Andy Cohen spotting! We'd also like to see Beyoncé, if it's not too much to ask. And, Zac Posen: if you can create something that lights up, we'd be on board for that, too. All things to add to our Met Gala vision board. (Don't judge.)
