Mariah's Slander and Toya's Sadness

Toya can't believe Mariah and her family would spreadsuch vicious lies about her.

By Toya Bush-Harris

I am forced to respond this week to the fallacious and accusatory arrows that have been shot in my direction this week. To make it plain: the statements from Lake and Lucy about discussing Mariah's daughter in a hair salon are not only false, but are also slanderous and saddening. Slanderous because they are simply just not true, and saddening because they show what length their family will go to achieve fame and celebrity.

How to Watch

Watch Married to Medicine Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo and streaming on Peacock and the Bravo App.

I will address the lies and slander. I have never discussed Mariah's daughter except for agreeing with my husband, Eugene, in a private conversation (meaning no one but he and I were around) when Eugene complemented Aydin for being a man's man by stepping up and adopting HIS daughter (see Episode 2). I agreed that this statement was true to him in a private conversation.

I have no clue why my name would be attached to beauty shop gossip and discussions within her family. The best proof of their venomous words being a gross falsification is that I too was adopted!!! I.E. why in the hell would I spread a rumor about something so near and dear to my own heart? When I was eight, my mother married a great man. I was raised by this man as his own, and I am indebted to him beyond measure. I know firsthand how it feels to grow up in a mixed household, and I would NEVER choose to speak ill of any situation like my very own. I find it ugly and malicious for Mariah's family to use me as a pawn and a villain in the telling of her daughter's triumphant story.

To further prove my point, outside of a lack of motive, there is also the lack of evidence in this case. Lucy, Lake, and I do not belong to the same social circles. I have never seen nor heard of their mention at any of the places I frequent. I use freelance private stylists for my Glam Squad and they come to my home, to which Lucy nor Lake have never been invited. In addition to me not having said these things concerning her daughter; It is impossible for ANYONE to have "heard" that I was talking about Mariah's daughter, because we do not have any interaction outside of Mariah -- and that in itself is already too much.

Mariah's venomous overreaction to hearsay and gossip from a salon is not only absurd, but also illegal. You can not assault people for what you "think" they might have said. This speaks volumes to Mariah's character. As professionals we need to hold ourselves in a higher regard than the common street thug that runs rapid within society. Unfortunately, I was forced to defend myself in this situation when I was attacked. As for Lake scurrying to tell Mariah her juicy gossip that she concocted, I will get that to very soon.

As for the sadness that I feel, it is horrific that Mariah will use anything and anyone to achieve success. Fabricating a scenario where she gets to cover up her cavalier discussion about her daughter to anyone and everyone by using me as the scapegoat is preposterous.

It's obvious her husband did not know of her loose lips until the show aired. She used me. But even more horrific is the abuse of her daughter in his matter. Where will the lies stop? And the Academy Award goes to. . .Mariah, for best liar in a reality show. How dare you? Your fame seeking sickens me and it pains me to see how you will even use your own family as pawns. Even your sister was manipulated. And the statement of Mariah being a friend to me. . .HA! You have no idea what that means. Wanting people around you to stroke your ego is your and Hitler's version of friendship! No thank you...
