Anila Sajja Describes the “3-Year Struggle” of Building Her House: “It Was Painful”
The Married to Medicine cast member’s home build went $1 million over budget — and her husband has a major regret.
After Season 8 of Married to Medicine documented Anila Sajja’s lengthy home-building process, Anila told BravoTV.com in April 2021 that although the construction was complete, there were just a few more things she and her family were “waiting on to get finished.” More than a year later, on the show’s July 10 Season 9 premiere, Anila had an exciting update to share.
“We are finally in our new house,” she declared in an interview. “Building the house was like a struggle. I mean, three-year struggle. It was painful.”
Anila’s husband, Kiran Sajja, had similar feelings about creating the 14,000-square-foot abode. “If I could sum up building the house in one word, it would be ‘regret,’” he said. “I regret that we spent a hell of a lot more money than we were supposed to spend.”
“Hell of a lot,” indeed. As Anila explained, “The original budget was 1.5 million [dollars].” However, “It went to 2.2 [million], and then 2.5 [million].” Still, she thinks Kiran is ultimately pleased with the results. “Maybe he’s not happy about the overspending,” she said, “but he’s happy that his wife and kids are in a beautiful home.”
To that, Kiran joked, “Yes, I’m happy for you guys.”
