Overcome with emotion, Brandon shared a heartfelt message on Instagram Tuesday morning. "It all felt like a dream. I’m so honored and grateful and completely in shock to have been named Womenswear Designer of the Year at last night’s @cfda awards," he began.

He used the caption to expand on his touching acceptance speech: "No designer does this job alone, and I have so many people to thank, and because I couldn’t at all grasp what was occurring in the moment, I know I forgot so many people and I’m so sorry for that. Let me say clearly and simply to all of you who have gone on this ride with me; I don’t deserve you and I thank god for you every day. This is a moment a person can only dream of, and I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve it, but I will spend the rest of my life trying to honor the love and kindness you have shown me."

Of course, Brandon's Project Runway family couldn't be more elated for the designer. "Tonight we celebrate my dear friend on this incredible recognition, on his talent, and on his beautiful heart. I couldn’t be prouder (or more excited to wear this gorgeous jumpsuit)," Nina Garcia (who wore one of Brandon's pieces to the award ceremony) wrote on Instagram

Elaine Welteroth also shouted out her "work husband" on IG. "To the WOMENSWEAR DESIGNER OF THE YEAR, I just want to say: I TOLD YOU SO," she wrote

Project Runway host Karlie Kloss cheered Brandon on from afar. "Couldn't be more proud of you, Brandon Maxwell," she shared on Instagram Stories.

Since launching his namesake luxury line in 2015, Brandon has quickly risen to the top gaining fans like Michelle Obama, Duchess Meghan Markle, and of course, muse Lady Gaga. The designer has made his mark in the industry with his elegant designs and exquisite tailoring, and has become a major advocate for inclusivity within the fashion world, constantly celebrating diversity in his runway shows.

Cheers to you, Brandon!
