Project Runway's Hester Sunshine Shares How to Create an Inspiring Fashion Space

Ever since we first got to meet Hester Sunshine on Bravo's Project Runway Season 17, it was clear to see that she had an innovative and artistic spirit. Throughout the season, the spunky designer was able to constantly find inspiration in everything around her no matter where she was or what challenges she faced. Now, Hester is sharing a bit of her creativity with us all: The New York City resident teamed up with Command® Brand to share how she creates an inspiring fashion workplace.

How to Watch

Hester has found a few simple hacks that allow her to turn any space into the ultimate fashion studio, starting with a simple way to display her sketches. “When starting a new project I like to lay out my sketches, but since I like to move them around and pull them down I need a damage-free solution. So, I use the Command™ Picture Ledge so I can see what I'm working on all laid out with the option to move things around as needed,” she shared.

Plain, boring walls? Not in Hester’s place. “I turn my walls into my accessory and inspiration boards by using Command® Clear Hooks," Hester shared. She uses the clear hooks to easily hang bags, jewelry, and garments on her walls to make space in her studio and add a bit of color and flare.

And just because it’s a work space, doesn't mean the vibe has to be super serious. Hester likes to add a “more chill vibe” to her fashion studio by adding fairy lights, which she hangs with Command® Clear Decorating Clips. She also uses Command™ Spring Clips in lieu of pushpins when she wants to hang important art that she doesn't want a hole picked in.

As for putting her latest designs on display, Hester also has a space-saving trick for that. "Since installing a clothing rack high on my ceiling would be a whole ordeal, I skip the construction and use Command™ Brushed Nickel Large Double Hooks and Command™ Medium Wire Hooks to hang my garments high up on the wall so I can free up floor space for work," she explained. Pretty nifty.

Now, who's ready to work on their next masterpiece?
