The Daily Dish Southern Charm

Shep Rose Trades His Frat Pad for a New, Grown-Up Master Bedroom: See Inside

“I can’t wait to have my first romantic interlude in this bed,” the Southern Charm bachelor joked of his newly-updated Charleston pad.

By Courtney Thompson

To know Shep Rose is to love him. Well-read, corny, loyal — we could go on and on about all the attributes that make him beloved by Southern Charm viewers everywhere. But despite all his wealth and stature, the bar owner does not have a design thumb. We’ve all seen the background in those scenes shot in his home, and well, it sort of looks like a frat house. (Catch up on Southern Charm here!)

In desperate need of a home redo, Shep recently worked with interior designer Orlando Soria and Parachute to completely revamp his bedroom, turning the vibe from sloppy frat house to the super-slick master bedroom of a well-to-do bachelor.

What were Shep’s goals? “I sleep on the couch a lot because I don’t really love the bed, my feet hang off the end of it,” Shep told Soria. “I like this sort of old-school bungalow feeling of my house. In keeping with that I’d like the bedroom to be transformed a bit. The old one didn’t have any feeling at all and it certainly wasn’t modern by any stretch.” Another request: That his room embody his personality, giving off a simultaneously preppy but laid-back vibe.

Well, he got his wish. Take a tour of the new space below!

The Before Shot

Yeesh, Shep was sorely in need of some design help. Soria arrived just in the nick of time.

And the After Shot

Darker walls, a bigger bed, matching nightstand and lamps, upgraded linens, and a sumptuous Windowpan Alpaca Throw (that we’re supremely jealous of) — all of it comes together to create a serene retreat for Shep. “You know what I love? The curtains, so I can really sleep in,” joked Shep. What else is he excited about? “I can’t wait to have my first romantic interlude in this bed,” Shep told Soria. Um, TMI!

Luxe Linens

“I love the pillows, man!” Shep exclaimed upon jumping into his new bed. Soria pulled in Parachute’s Edged Linen Duvet Cover and Shams to nail Shep’s preppy request, also layering in the brand’s Heathered Percale Sheet Set and Quilted Euro Shams. The effect? Refined but laid-back all at once.

Closet

“I know the closet needs big-time help,” Shep told Soria before the revamp. Um, yeah it did. Soria turned to California Closets to completely redo the space, telling Shep afterward, “Now you’re a fully-grown adult human being with a real closet!" What else screams "adulting?" Shep's new Classic Bathrobe from Parachute.

Gallery Wall

“In order to achieve an elegant but also casual look, I brought in really beautiful graphic art for the walls, a saturated wall color, but kept the bedding airy and light,” explained Soria. Said Shep of the Minted grid-patterned art collection, “It makes me feel more sophisticated than I am.”

A Masculine Bench

A bottom-of-the-bed bench that isn’t tufted or frilly? We’re sold. This leather-and-brass one from CB2 is ultra-streamlined and masculine, and goes perfectly with Shep’s new Parachute Quilted Slippers.
