Amanda Batula Went All Out on Kyle Cooke's Halloween Costume: "I'm Quite Proud of It"
The Summer House cast member said she "did a lot of research" when creating her hubby's getup.
Kyle Cooke is already a top contender for this year’s best Halloween costume — and it’s all thanks to his wife.
On Friday, October 27, Amanda Batula took to Instagram to provide a glimpse at the getup she created for her Summer House husband. The New Jersey native filmed herself putting the final touches on the homemade design, which included a black faux leather vest she adorned with fringe.
“OK, so Kyle has his big DJing debut tonight at The Palace, which we’re very excited about,” Amanda said in a video. “Unfortunately for me, it’s Halloween weekend, which means I have to dress up in costume. But I have spent the last week and a half ordering and basically putting together a costume for Kyle because I do this every year for Halloween.”
Amanda said she was fairly comfortable with the process, as she makes most of the costumes that Kyle wears on Summer House; however, she knew she had to go the extra mile for 2023.
Amanda Batula takes a DIY approach to Halloween costumes
“For Halloween, it’s normally something silly, like a silly couple’s costume that I’m excited about and I know is easy for him,” she continued. “But because he’s DJing, I wanted to make sure he was the star of the show up there. So, it’s gonna be good. I’m really excited — been working real hard on it. I normally don’t put this much effort into the costumes, by the way.”
Amanda didn’t immediately reveal the type of costume she was creating but proceeded to pull out several clues.
“You’ll be able to guess this very soon,” she said after showing off the vest.
Amanda then held up a silver necklace that had a familiar-looking pendant. She said she couldn’t find a piece that looked like the original, so she glued a bedazzled horseshoe magnet to a metallic horse head ornament.
There’s no doubt that some viewers were still stumped after seeing the vest and jewelry, but Amanda reassured them it would all make sense once she unveiled the standout piece.
Kyle Cooke makes his official DJing debut while dressed as Ken
“This is the one… you guys are gonna know exactly what he’s being,” she said. “I know this is not out-of-this-world, but I’m quite proud of it. It’s a little Ken fanny pack.”
It was at that point that fans realized Kyle was dressing up as Ryan Gosling’s Ken from the summer blockbuster Barbie.
Amanda said she purchased the small black bag and added a gold chain and a white nameplate in the classic Metallica font.
“I did a lot of research, and figured out that [the name was] not painted on, it’s actually an applique-type thing,” she explained. “So I made that and glued it on, and I love it. She is my pride and joy, and I guarantee it will be destroyed in five minutes. For sure, five minutes.”
Amanda Butala steps out in "Weird Barbie" costume
So if Kyle went as Ken, who did Amanda dress up as? Barbie, of course. But rather than going with the “stereotypical” version, the Summer House cast member opted for Kate McKinnon’s “Weird Barbie" look, which included a hot-pink bodysuit, green boots, and a spiky blond wig.
