Ally Lewber Calls “Girl's Girl" a "Love Letter" ... But Not to James Kennedy (EXCLUSIVE)
Vanderpump Rules' Ally Lewber enlisted her boyfriend to help on the track, but the song isn't an ode to their relationship.
Vanderpump Rules' Ally Lewber is showing the world another side of herself as she recently released her single, "Girl's Girl." The pop ode is all about love, but, no it's not about her romance with her boyfriend, James Kennedy. Instead, the track highlights how much she cares for her female friends and the important role they play in her life.
And, now, she's revealing all to The Daily Dish about what the experience of making this song has been like.
Ally Lewber on working with James Kennedy on "Girl's Girl"
"So I wrote it after seeing the Barbie movie," she told The Daily Dish this week, laughing. "Around that time, it really was inspired by my friendships, all my girlfriends that I'm really obsessed with and lucky to have in LA. So then I wrote it acoustically just on the guitar. And then James added the production behind it. And we have a friend who is pretty big in the music industry, so he took us into our studio and we recorded and it was just a lot of fun."
Scheana Shay's Cameo in the "Girl's Girl" Music Video
Ally's girlfriends (and a few men, including TikToker Zachary Reality) appear in the, you guessed it, Barbie-inspired music video. Photos from the video shoot show a lot of pink, a shirtless James, and an appearance from her VPR cast member, Scheana Shay.
In other photos for the music video, Scheana can be seen sitting on the hood of a white convertible next to Ally's friend and Scheana's sister, Cortney Erin, smiling while Ally strums on a guitar in the middle of the desert.

Scheana's appearance in Ally's music video makes so much sense as she was one of the first people to perform on VPR. During VPR Season 1, Scheana was open about her aspirations to become a pop star, hitting the studio and performing her single, "What I Like," on stage with Ariana Madix as her backup dancer in Episode 5. But now Scheana is passing the torch to Ally and becoming the backup dancer, or at least, background performer, in her newest music video.
By the way, James also directed the candy-colored music video with Ally calling the day she filmed the visual "the best day of my life."
"Everyone in the video is my close friends and it was just so much fun to make a music video with your best friends," she continued when chatting with The Daily Dish. "And then James is an amazing director because he just like has a vision and then he'd get sh-t done."
Ally Lewber's new single, "Girl's Girl," is out now
Prior to the release, Ally had been teasing the release of her brand new single, "Girl's Girl", in posts on her Instagram feed.
"My soul is so happy to be making music again," Ally wrote in the caption of an Instagram post, which gave a snippet to the introduction of the song.
Ally Lewber discusses her love for music
Ally had been open about her childhood dreams of being a singer in Vanderpump Rules Season 11, Episode 7.
She talked openly about how, once upon a time, she aspired to become a performer, like one of her major idols. "When 'Teardrops on My Guitar' blessed our ears on the radio [in 2006], I decided I wanted to be just like Taylor Swift," she admitted during the episode. "But there can only be one Taylor, so I decided to become an astrologer instead."
Throughout Season 11, Ally has been putting those skills to use, reading her cast members charts, and predicting what is to come for their futures. But she hasn't given up on those music dreams just yet. In December, Ally teamed up with James to release their first single together, "I Believe in You" — an educational track for kids. And now, she's also released "Girl's Girl."
Ally Lewber Teases More Music After "Girl's Girl"
"I do wanna make more music in the future," she said when speaking to The Daily Dish, but added that she's not in a rush. "This just really was an organic thing that kind of came about and it's just to support women and be obsessed with your girlfriends and a love letter to my girlfriends."
