Thomas Ravenel recently opened up about his decision to run for U.S. Senate, telling People that he was pressured into making the announcement last April by Andy Cohen on an episode of Watch What Happens Live. Now Andy’s speaking out about the Southern Charm star’s accusations.
”He blames me, he says I goaded him into running for office,” he says on Ask Andy. “But I was told when I came to Watch What Happens Live that he had an announcement to make, that he was going to announce his candidacy, but he somehow thought that I was ‘making him’ announce his candidacy. I have no idea.”
Thomas alleges that the subject of his announcement changed last minute because of pressure from the Housewives producer. “I was going to make an announcement that my child was being born, and at the last second Andy Cohen said, ‘Announce that you’re running for the U.S. Senate,’ so I made a nationwide promise that I was going to run,” he says.
Andy maintains that Thomas could have rescinded his intent to run. “By the way, he could’ve said I’m running for office on Watch What Happens Live and then not ran for office,” he says. “This isn’t Meet the Press.”
As for who’s going to have the last word, Andy promises that he and Thomas will likely clear the air on the air. “He and I have to talk about it at the [Southern Charm] reunion,” he teases.
