Captain Jason Chambers Shares the Sweetest Update on His Daughter, Saskia
The Below Deck Down Under captain also revealed a surprising change to his relationship with his ex.
When Jason Chambers isn't in the wheelhouse of a superyacht as the captain on Bravo's Below Deck Down Under, he can be found spending time with his adorable daughter, Saskia.
As the captain explained himself on the series premiere of the Below Deck series, he doesn't get to see his daughter, who he co-parents with his ex, very often because of the demands of the yachting industry.
"Being away from her hurts every day," he said in an interview on Episode 1 of Season 1. "There's no words for how much I love my daughter. Everything's about her."
During a chat with The Daily Dish on July 6, Captain Jason opened up about what Saskia, who is currently nine, is doing now. He also shared an update on working with his ex.
Captain Jason Chambers' Update on His Daughter, Saskia
When Jason is away from his only child, the duo keeps in touch with multiple Facetime calls a day. As Saskia has gotten older, Jason said she's developed a strong sense of humor, and "her jokes are really coming into play."
"I'm enjoying to watch this little girl grow. She's got empathy, she's got humor, she's got adventure," he said. "I think she's a little me — and her mother, mostly — but I can see me in her a lot, the more she gets older."
Where Captain Jason Chambers Stands with His Ex
On the Below Deck Down Under Season 2 premiere, Jason opened up to chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph about working with Saskia's mom on a villa they owned in the Philippines.
While he was helping Tzarina in the galley, he revealed that he learned cooking techniques from his ex, who used to be a yacht chef as well.
"Saskia's mother is fantastic," Jason said in a confessional on the episode. "We run a business together, we co-parent, and I've learned a lot by watching her. So, if I can help out, I'm going to help out."
Though Jason and his ex are still co-parenting successfully, the captain revealed that the two are no longer working together on their property in the Philippines.
"We've had to let that go and we've leased that out to someone else to manage," Jason said, before adding that the decision was made so Saskia and his ex could "move on and do something else a little bit different."
Now, Saskia can "go to a different school in a different location, which is a better education" for her.
"So they're doing their own thing now..." he concluded.
