The Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean alum announced his engagement to his girlfriend of about four years, Kiara Cabral, on May 11.

“After a wonderful [four-year] relationship with my love Kiara I decided to take the next step and propose… I feel like the luckiest man alive!” Ben captioned an Instagram post featuring photos of the happy couple on a boat. “Thank you to my friends and family for all of your support. I couldn’t have done it without you, and obviously thank you to Kiara for saying yes and making an honest man out of me, I love you.”

Kiara took to Instagram as well to share how she reacted when the Englishman popped the question.

“TO US,” she wrote, adding an engagement ring emoji and a sparkly red heart emoji. “[I’m] speechless and overwhelmed with so much happiness and love.”

Ben later chatted with Us Weekly about the relationship, and he dished on all the details of his engagement. He confirmed that he proposed after the two went on a cruise in Italy together.

“After our cruising obligations, we decided to stay in Rome for four nights. I could tell that Kiara saw this as a special moment and was definitely expecting more than a carbonara,” he told the outlet. “She says not, but I could tell.”

Though the chef almost forgot the ring, he was able to pull off the proposal.

“I had it in my camera bag in a secret compartment. There was a moment when Kiara was looking for an LED light, which was forgotten. I was sure she must’ve seen it, but she did not! I even forgot it on the way to the airport and blamed our detour on having to turn the air conditioning down [at home]. It was a bumpy ride,” he continued. “And well worth it. She had no clue when I dropped [to] my knees in Vatican Square that I would be proposing.”

The Brit didn’t share whether the two have made any wedding plans yet, but for now he said he “look[s] forward to a life of love and laughter with the lovely Kiara.”
