Do Julia d'Albert Pusey and Bobby Giancola Keep In Touch?

The #BelowDeckMed yachties are finally on the same page.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Bobby Giancola and Julia d'Albert Pusey gave us some serious friendship envy this season of Below Deck Mediterranean. But things got a bit awkward when Bobby thought there was something more between the yachties, and Julia distanced herself from the deckhand. Bobby's subsequent blow-up during one of the crew's final nights out seemed to be the nail in the coffin of this friendship.

But now that Bobby and Julia are off of the boat and have seen how adorable they were as chums this season of Below Deck Med, have they revived their camaraderie?

Unfortunately, Bobby and Julia aren't the mates they once were. "Julia and I, currently, we don't keep in touch that much. I see her every now and again in Fort Lauderdale," Bobby told The Daily Dish earlier this summer. "She's got a boyfriend still, so I'm not gonna blow her up and call her. Every now and again, she'll text me how things are and vice versa, but that's the extent of it."

Julia also doesn't seem too inclined to strike up a friendship with Bobby again. "We have spoken once, but really, like I said in the last show, 'I have enough friends,'" she told The Daily Dish via email. "Bobby's a good lad, but in respect to [my boyfriend] Matty, I keep my distance."

Bobby told The Daily Dish earlier this summer that he thought there may have been a misunderstanding between him and Julia about the nature of their relationship. "Looking back, I think that there maybe is a cultural difference there of how we perceive flirting," he said, adding that he thought Julia's time apart from her boyfriend meant their relationship wasn't as serious as it turned out to be. "To me, in my experience and the way I would be, I wouldn't leave my significant other like that for so long and put them through [the] stress. I would just be single so nobody's feelings get hurt."

With that in mind and what he perceived as "physical flirting" and "just being cute with each other," Bobby said he thought their relationship "grew into something, and I really liked her." "So I took those flirts a little bit more to heart, I guess," he said.

But once Julia made it clear that she and Bobby would only ever be just friends earlier this season, he obliged. "I respect her wishes, and I didn't want to make her feel awkward," Bobby explained. "She just needed to communicate that to me and once she did, I pulled back a little bit."

But even so, Bobby did have one final grand gesture with Julia in the season finale when he professed his love to the stewardess. "Where the hell did that come from! Did you see my face? That boy never ceases to amaze me!" Julia said of how much the moment caught her off-guard. "At that point anyone could have told me anything, I just didn't care anymore, too much drama had gone down and all I was thinking was, 'Not long, and I'm going home to be with Matty!'"

Julia said she doesn't believe her friendliness toward Bobby this charter season should make her responsible for the way he felt about her, as the deckhand stated during the season finale. "Hardly think I made him fall in love with me," she said. "I was clear from the start, and it's not my problem if someone doesn't take the hint. I have always been too nice for my own good, and maybe I should have been more direct in my approach, but that just ain't me!"

However, the season finale of Below Deck Med was full of romance, otherwise. Find out who got intimate whom, below.
