Josiah opened up in a post on Instagram on Sunday, December 9, explaining that he recently spent time with his mom after she had undergone chemotherapy to battle breast cancer. "So lovely to spend a few days with my beautiful mum," Josiah wrote in the post, which featured a photo of himself with his mom, Kairen Carter. "You can still be beautiful while going through chemo."

Kairen previously shared on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer on July 5. She wrote in an October 2 Instagram post that she wasn't letting the diagnosis slow her down, and that she had started rowing and exercising at a fit camp again. "This is all thanks to my family and friends for all of the food, flowers, cleaning, inspiration, hair plaiting and being there for me," she shared. "Cancer is a bitch but family and friends are amazing."

Since then, Kairen has documented her journey for her Instagram followers, sharing photos of her taking a vacation to Majorca to visit Josiah, getting her "pre chemo haircut," and showing tremendous strength as she returns to her fit camp workouts following her first round of chemotherapy in November.

Josiah showed gratitude to his followers for their messages of love and support for him and his mom during this difficult time. "Thank you to everyone that has posted such lovely comments on my previous tweet," Josiah shared on Twitter. "Feeling the love over this festive period."

Below Deck alum Emily Warburton-Adams also recently opened up on social media about her father's diagnosis with stage 4 colorectal cancer. The Season 4 stew launched a JustGiving page with her sister, Isabella, and her brother, Max, in an effort to fly their father from Malaysia, where he has remained since he was diagnosed, back home to the U.K. Emily announced in a post on Instagram on December 9 that her dad will be coming home "very soon."
