Brittany Cartwright Shares Emotional Moment with Her Son, Cruz: "I About Cried"
The Valley mom showed off the sweet Mother's Day gift she received from her and Jax Taylor's little boy.
Brittany Cartwright's toddler son nearly brought her tears — happy tears, that is.
While navigating her marital split from Jax Taylor, The Valley mom took to Instagram this week to share the heartwarming Mother’s Day gift she received from her and Jax’s only child, Cruz Michael Cauchi. Brittany posted a May 9 Instagram photo that showed a mini terra-cotta pot that her 3-year-old had decorated at school. The piece was filled with green shredded paper that resembled grass and contained a handprint paper flower next to a little note that read: “Happy Mother’s Day! 2024. Cruz.”
“Picked up Cruz from school & I about cried,” Brittany captioned the Instagram Story. “I love these little moments.”

Jax Taylor recalls "crushing" events leading up to his marital split
“Until I can fix myself and get to where I want to be, I can’t be good for her,” he explained. “I’m just going through a lot of things with my mental health right now, it’s a real tough process. Being married is not easy. Going through what we went through, with Covid, and then obviously losing our job on Vanderpump [Rules], and then going through all that and then having a baby, there was a lot of stuff that was just piling down on me and it was crushing me — it would crush anybody.”
Jax confessed his "temper" played a huge role in his and Brittany's separation, and said he has taken steps to fix his behavior tendencies.
"I have a short temper, I have a short fuse, I don't have any patience," he said. "There's a long, long, list of things I'm currently trying to get some help. I really, really need a lot of help. I do."
"I'm trying," he continued. "As you guys know, on Vanderpump Rules, I went through, like, three different therapists."
Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor's Co-Parenting Relationship
Jax and Brittany welcomed Cruz in April 2021, nearly two years after they married. Although they’ve decided to put their romantic relationship on hold, they’ve proven to be great co-parents and have continued to focus on their little boy.
Brittany previously told People magazine that she and Jax were "doing a really good job" splitting time with their son despite living under different roofs.
"I think it's honestly been better because we aren't fighting in front of [Cruz]," Brittany said about her decision to move out. "And for me, I think that's what is most important, right now. Because that's why I had to get him out of that situation in the first place."
Jax made similar comments in a recent interview with The Daily Dish when asked if he was back in the dating scene.
“I’m not dating,” he said. “I’m not gonna ever date, no. Even if things don’t work out between Brittany and I, I will never ever date or get married again… My little boy is the most important thing to me. I love him so much and I am getting emotional thinking about it. Um, no, no, no, no.”
