Dancing Queens Star Pooja Mehta is Married to One Gem of a Man — Pun Intended
Pooja shares two sons with husband Shimon Himovich, an Israeli-born diamond expert with his own jewelry business.
Pooja Mehta might be dancing for the win in Dancing Queens, but she already won this man over by dancing her way into his heart.
Who Is Pooja Mehta's Husband, Shimon Himovich?
Shimon Himovich is the Scottsdale, Arizona-based jeweler behind Finer Custom Jewelry, specializing in designing and creating bespoke jeweled pieces, according to the company’s website. Primarily working with engagement rings, Finer launched three locations in just the past two years, opening in Scottsdale, Dallas, and Houston.
Finer aims to strip down the “mass production” and “commission-based hustle” of the gem industry to create a more client-based rapport to create the perfect piece.
“Since I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with diamonds and the way they sparkle,” said Himovich on the website. “I got started in the wholesale diamond business six years ago, supplying diamonds to the Phoenix Valley Stores.”
Himovich said he wanted to “bridge the gap between consumers and the way they shop” after four years of buying, trading, and selling thousands of diamonds.
“I enjoy the experience of sitting down with my clients to educate them one-on-one about diamonds,” said Himovich. “I feel fortunate to do what I love every single day.”
Shimon and his partners specialize in lab-grown, natural, and salt and pepper diamonds, the latter of which offer a smoky or speckled look to the gems. They offer their customers a chance to pick the details of their jewelry (shape, carat, cut, etc.) before taking the design to a virtual mock-up.
After several meetings, a wax cast is created before the big reveal day.
As seen on the company’s business page, while they’re known for their engagement rings, Finer has also impressively fashioned sparkling necklaces, earrings, men’s rings, and jewelry for all occasions.
Pooja — who herself likes to sparkle on the dance floor — appears on the business website in an introduction video for Finer.
Pooja Mehta and Shimon Himovich's Family
Speaking of introductions, Israeli-born Himovich was introduced to viewers in an episode of Dancing Queens, along with his two sons with Pooja: 6-year-old Yoav and 2-year-old Idan.
The pair went against their families’ expectations of marrying within their religions since Himovich is Jewish and Pooja is Hindu.
“I like to do things my way, and if anybody tells me to do it a certain way, I just push back,” said Pooja. “And I like that about myself. I think that’s the most special part about me.”
As seen in Episode 6 of Dancing Queens, Pooja and Himovich celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary by going out for a round of cocktails and reflecting on their Jewish- and Hindu-fused nuptials.
Pooja told producers she had her “dream wedding” but joked about whether Himovich had his.
“We had a Jewish ceremony and a Hindu ceremony at the Phoenician in Scottsdale,” said Pooja. “I always joke [that] he attended the wedding I planned for myself, and he came as a guest.”
Himovich might not be 100% on board with Pooja’s dancing career, but the marriage seems strong as anything, if their anniversary date is of any indication.
Pooja’s Instagram page is filled with family fun, including a post of their children in April 23.
“Parenting is about reliving that magic you once felt as a child with your kids,” said Pooja with a red heart emoji.
Another post in April showed a montage of Pooja, Himovich, and their sons having the most picture-perfect moments.
“Life has been extra sweet lately,” Pooja wrote. “We have been pausing to cherish the small moments, being present to both the ups and downs and, of course, chocolate for breakfast.”
It just goes to show that family — and diamonds — do last forever.
Watch Pooja and the gang waltz through new episodes of Dancing Queens Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo and available to stream the next day on Peacock.
