When David Foster married Yolanda Hadid in 2011, he became a stepfather to her three children from her previous marriage to Mohamed Hadid: Gigi, Bella, and Anwar. However, David and Yolanda would go on to announce their decision to divorce in December 2015 and finalize their divorce last month.

Though it's been nearly two years since he and Yolanda decided to split, David said that he still has a relationship with his stepdaughters. "I mean divorce puts a strain on everybody, yeah but Gigi and Bella are doing amazing and they’re so busy that I don’t talk to them much but we do text, yeah we’re still good," he told DailyMailTV.

David was previously spotted supporting Gigi shortly after the news of his split from Yolanda broke when she worked the runway in the Spinrg 2016 Atelier Versace show in Paris in January 2016.

David and Yolanda moved out of their magnificent Malibu mansion prior to announcing the breakup, and the hitmaker is now living in a bachelor pad in Los Angeles. David told DailyMailTV that he's happy that his ex has made a new life for herself on the East Coast, including the success of the release of her new memoir Believe Me: My Battle with the Invisible Disability of Lyme Disease

However, David can't say that he's pleased about Yolanda's candor about their relationship in her book. "Yolanda had to write a book about her journey with her disease. In a way, I was a little bit of a drive by shooting in the book, but uhm, we’re all good now. She’s happy, she’s healthy. She’s with her kids in New York, she’s on her farm. In a ten year, nine-year relationship you can find ten bad things to say about anybody," he shared. "And it’s a little disappointing that she went there a few times but the main thing is she’s happy, she’s healthy and her and I are good."

David also denied reports that Yolanda's battle with Lyme disease contributed to their divorce. "No, I don't think it did," he said.

Yolanda explained what some have perceived to be criticism of David in her book during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last month. "You know, David and I had an incredible seven-year run, and when I got sick, things went down, and it's just part of life. What I wrote wasn't about putting shade on anybody or my ex-husband; it was just to share that when people are chronically ill, it just strains the marriage, and I want people to know that that's normal. It wasn't about throwing shade at David. Like I said, we had an amazing time, and it was just the end of our cycle together," Yolanda said (clip above). "But people, other couples that are out there, think, 'Oh my God, I'm such a bad person because I can't support my husband or my wife.' No, you're normal. Everybody can reach the end of their rope, and we reached that point, and it's OK. It's nothing to do with shade. I hold him in really high regard, and I wish him only love, health, and happiness, and that's the end of that."

As for rumors about David's romantic exploits since divorcing Yolanda, he laughed them off during his interview with DailyMailTV, including his most recent rumored relationship with Katharine McPhee. "Katharine and I have known each other since [American] Idol, since she was twenty-one, and we’ve worked together and you know she’s super successful and people can just be friends you know?" he said.
