Dolores Catania Clarifies Her Comments About Jackie Goldschneider's Upbringing

"I feel uptight around her," The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Dolores Catania said.

We expected there to be tension between Teresa Giudice and Jackie Goldschneider during The Real Housewives of New Jersey trip to Jamaica this season. However, the drama that really erupted surprisingly had to do with Jackie and Dolores Catania.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey on Peacock and the Bravo app.

The two clashed during the vacay after Jackie found out Dolores didn't really consider them friends. Jackie also wasn't happy to hear that Dolores felt like some of the source of their conflict had to to with them being "raised differently."

Dolores explained during The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 10 After Show, above, that she feels like it's difficult to navigate her friendship with Jackie because she's an "empathetic" person. "When somebody's sitting next to me, they're uptight, I get uptight, and I feel uptight around her," she said. "I feel like sometimes she's uptight."

The way Jackie sees it, Dolores tried to distance herself from her because her close friends Teresa and Jennifer Aydin weren't the biggest fans of Jackie at the time.

"I think that Dolores thinks that I'm different, and she's looking for reasons why. Her closest friends, Teresa and Jennifer, didn't like me. Dolores went through a phase of trying to exclude me from the rest of the group because that would make Teresa and Jennifer feel better to know that I really wasn't part of this group," Jackie said during the After Show. "So she was really looking for ways to figure out why I was different from everybody else."

But Dolores said that she believes they both come from fundamentally different backgrounds due to one fact: that Jackie prefers people to call her before they come over to her house. "When people are over, they could stay as long as they want. They don't have to call. They don't have to knock," Dolores said. "She must have been raised different if that's OK because that's not OK where I come from."

In the end, Jackie acknowledged that she and Dolores did have different upbringings. "I think she made a lot of assumptions about me that aren't necessarily true, but I think I was raised differently," she said. "But I don't think that necessarily makes me that different from everyone right now."

But one fan wondered during the December 11 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (clip below) why Dolores got along so well with Siggy Flicker but not Jackie since they seemed to have "similar upbringings."

"No, I don't see that they had similar upbringings at all," Dolores said on WWHL. "No, it was more like Jackie seemed to be coddled. Siggy was raised a little bit tougher than that. And I like Jackie very much; I just have to get used to, she might get offended by things that are said that aren't meant in the way that they are."

Later on during the WWHL After Show, another caller wondered why Dolores seemed to be "so lenient on Siggy for being so overdramatic about some things," but she calls out Jackie for similar behavior. "I think it's an isolated incident with Jackie that I was just really tired," Dolores said. "I knew once Jennifer mentioned it the way she did, 'Oh, she's not your friend,' it shouldn't have been said that way, and I knew what I was in for."

Andy Cohen also pointed out, "Another difference is you were actually very close friends with Siggy and Jackie's more of a new friend."

But it sounds like there's some hope that Dolores and Jackie can become the best of friends one day, too. "I'm still getting to know Jackie," Dolores said. "We actually do like each other, believe it or not, and I did apologize to her for that. So stay tuned."
