Exclusive: Is Reza Eddie Murphy's Biggest Fan?
As the #Shahs star makes the jump into entertainment, he's looking back at his top inspirations.
Shahs of Sunset’s Reza Farahan launched his acting career this month with a role in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! He also sold out his new comedy show at the Hollywood Improv, so his entertainment game is definitely on and popping. But Reza says his day job in real estate is still hot as ever — and he’s got a few things to say about another Bravolebrity's approach to selling high-end homes.
Off the bat, he explained that Million Dollar Listing New York’s Fredrik Eklund is an agent whose style he wouldn’t mind emulating. “Homeboy is killing it in New York and he owns a company in his f***ing homeland [of Sweden]. That is gangster!” he said. “That’s like me having a brokerage in Iran, selling real estate in Beverly Hills and selling there [too] without even being there!” Game recognize game!
It’s because Reza is plenty confident in his real estate skills, in fact, that he feels even better about his burgeoning entertainment career. “I feel like a pimp because first and foremost, I’m a real estate agent with a very successful career. So I have a cool attitude about everything that happens [in terms of my entertainment career] — it’s icing on the cake. I do it because I love it, but i’m not desperate. And it seems to work best that way.”
If Reza draws inspiration from Fredrik when it comes to real estate, he cites another professional inspiration of a completely different stripe when it comes to his entertainment aspirations: Eddie Murphy. “This is going to sound absolutely ridiculous, but from childhood I have been obsessed with Eddie Murphy’s standup. [I fancied myself] a comedian from jump street,” he says. “I was the funny one in the family and everyone would be cracking up. I would watch Eddie Murphy Delirious nonstop — I have that sh*t memorized." So it seems that — even while his real estate career soars — Reza was actually destined for comedy all along.
