It seems as if it was only yesterday that Fredrik Eklund and husband Derek Kaplan welcomed their twins Freddy and Milla and expanded their family, alongside Derek’s son, Kai. Since then, The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent has shared several adorable glimpses at what fatherhood is like for the couple, including fun-filled family vacations and updates on the twins – who, apparently, are now picking out their own outfits.

Recently, Fredrik took to Instagram to share another sweet moment with his family, as well as to open up about how much spending the holidays with his loved ones means to him, with a series of precious photos featuring Derek, their four-year-old twins, and Kai.

"The best feeling is to wake up and hear all the kids playing downstairs," Fredrik wrote in the caption of his December 19 post, adding, "It’s like I can smell Christmas right from my bed. I put slippers and a robe on and come downstairs around the lit tree. The tree still pulls me into the magic of childhood, all the anticipation, all the wrapped gifts (and how I’ve always hated to wait), the simple joy of family together without work and school."

In addition to the family photos, Fredrik shared the sweetest moment of his twins "learning the gift of giving" as they did some volunteer work. "Today was very very special helping [Zoe Church LA] and all the amazing volunteers build an entire winter-wonderland (like a toy-store) and give out 5,100 toys to families lining up," he wrote in the caption of his December 11 post. Fredrik added in the post, "Milla and Freddy took it really seriously, especially the gift wrapping and writing blessings for the kids on the cards to give to Santa. What an incredible experience and so grateful to see the kids learning the gift of giving. This is the season!"

The MDLLA dad also shared another photo with Derek, Freddy, and Kai, who lives in London full-time with his moms. "Reunited with Kai for Christmas," he wrote in the caption of his December 15 post. Previously, Derek opened up about his journey into becoming a dad, and shared how Kai was conceived about 12 years ago.

"Before meeting Fred, I had spent years thinking about having a child and felt becoming a father was something I was destined to be," Derek had explained, adding, "I had set a goal of becoming a dad at the age of 35 regardless of whether I was in a relationship or not, and my ideal situation — at the time — was to co-parent with two women who were in a long term committed relationship. One day I woke up and said today is the day I start my journey! It was something inside that spoke to me. Within 2 weeks I had meet Kai’s mothers through an agency, and the moment I heard from them, I instinctively knew they were ‘the' ones. We spent a few months getting to know each others families who were all supportive before we brought Kai into the world!"

Last month, Fredrik kicked off the holiday season with a festive family photo of Derek, the twins, and their dog, Cash. "Happy Holidays from our family to yours!" he wrote in the caption of his November 24 post, adding, "This is my favorite season and we try to teach the kids our traditions: the (early) big tree glowing, especially in the morning when it’s all dark outside, wrapping the gifts with Swedish glögg, seeing the excitement (and frustration) on the kids faces when they can’t open all the packages immediately and just have to wait for Santa (Milla says he is too fat for our fireplace anyway), the baking of pumpkin pies and banana bread that I’m still trying to perfect after all these years (the key is walnuts and turmeric!), Dada’s juicy special truffle-and-garlic-chicken in the oven since we we’ve never been big turkey eaters, and then finally catch up on movies, sleep and snuggles (zoom in on Cash!). I don’t know, maybe it’s the Christmas music starting now (which drives Derek crazy lol) but there is magic in the new house and so much to be thankful for."
