Fredrik Eklund's Twins Are "Starting to Get Very Opinionated" on One Topic
The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles broker's kids are acting (and looking!) so grown-up these days.
As Fredrik Eklund's twins, son Freddy and daughter Milla, get ready to celebrate their fourth birthday later this month, the Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles kids are already making grown-up decisions.
Fredrik recently revealed on Instagram that his kids, whom he shares with husband Derek Kaplan, have now become their own stylists, picking out their outfits each day. "They have started to dress themselves. I still buy all the clothes (and yes, I’ve loved every single minute of it) but they are starting to get very opinionated [about] what they have to wear, on their own," Fredrik wrote in a post on Instagram on November 7. "They refuse most of what we suggest, and find something they HAVE to wear."
He went on to say that is especially the case for Milla, who "likes to mix and match, and depending on the mood (not the weather) she can go very princess or like today a little more comfortable but only on her own terms." As for his son, Fredrik said, "Freddy is perhaps easier to direct although he’s getting so tall and wearing 7-year old clothes as a 3-year old."
The post featured a collection of photos of the family enjoying a fabulous fall outing in the park, showcasing the kids' looks for the day. Milla was too cute in a striped sweater, pink sweatpants, and a matching knit hat with her name embroidered across the front. Freddy opted for a button-down shirt in a squirrel print, blue jeans, and striped suspenders.
It sounds like Fredrik definitely approves of their sartorial choices, writing of Freddy's ensembles, "I often wish they made his clothes in my size, for me lol."
"Anyway, happy Marathon Day to everyone running out there from the four of us lazy family hanging in the park," Fredrik, who splits his time between Los Angeles and the Big Apple, as part of the Million Dollar Listing New York cast, concluded the post, giving his best wishes to those who participated in the New York City Marathon this past Sunday.
It's definitely been an eventful autumn for the MDLLA family, which also included putting on play makeup and fake tattoos, visiting the aquarium and zoo, and, of course, celebrating spooky season on Halloween.
Last month, Fredrik also took some time out to show his appreciation to his longtime love, Derek. "After 11 years, partners in time. My favorite thing is to sneak away with your heavy arm around my shoulder to explore the world. Sometimes I listen to you with the kids, from the other room, when you think I don’t, your voice kissing them good night. How tender you’re with them," Fredrik gushed about Derek in a post on Instagram on October 21. "And when s--t hits the fan you’re always the voice of reason holding me up. Your heart is so pure and strong it lights the world around you. You’re the only one really that can tell me I’m often wrong but remind me when needed my heart is full of love."
Fredrik ended his "little love letter" to Derek, "Thank you [for] giving me the family I’ve always wanted."
He has also definitely felt the love back from Derek, who celebrated the one-year anniversary of Fredrik's sobriety with an inspiring cake. "1 year today and it feels amazing! It’s an emotional but beautiful morning for sure," Fredrik wrote on Instagram on October 15. "Thank you [Derek] for the cake and love, and to all those [who've] supported me in this. #sober."
Back in September, Fredrik opened up about the profound impact sobriety has had on his life, including his family, during an exclusive interview with Bravo Insider. "I'm not tired anymore ever. I don't have any anxiety. I mean, of course, I'm tired at night, but I don't have any anxiety or, like, [feel] depressed. That word, stress, was something I've lived with a long time. I didn't realize back then, but, you know, work, relating to family, relating to alcohol, relating to late dinner — it's all one big thing that creates stress. So, I do feel like I'm very balanced now, and I feel like I have a lot of bandwidth, right?" he said, before noting how "excited" he has been about everything going on in his life, including his busy schedule. "So, my lifestyle's not for everybody, but I really enjoy it, and I do think that, like I said, I spend more time with the kids now than I ever have, and I'm really present and I can do a lot online, and I can do a lot on Zoom and I, you know, take them to Europe, both of them separately for one week each. Like, who does that? So, I feel very good about it all."
