Gage Edward is breaking his silence about ex Jeff Lewis and their ongoing custody battle over their shared 3-year-old daughter, Monroe. The Flipping Out dad made a rare statement about the rocky relationship between him and his former significant other, whom he split from back in 2019.

Gage, who has remained tight-lipped about their legal dispute, opened up in an Instagram Live on April 17, telling followers that he hasn’t always been “in control with the narrative that’s gone on publicly,” but that he wanted to speak out since there’s “been some turmoil in the last several months.”

Since February, Gage has filed two lawsuits against Jeff, including a custody-related court order that requested a change to their daughter’s last name and a more recent legal filing over a $125,000 loan that Jeff allegedly did not fully pay back to Gage.

Though Jeff has spoken openly about the situation on his radio show several times, Gage says he’s refrained from talking about it for the sake of Monroe. “I don’t think addressing anything, even though it’s been addressed from the other side, I don’t ever want to put Monroe in that position,” he said. “She’s going to have her own experience with her other dad, and that’s fine. I’m not going to weigh in on it and I’m not going to influence anything.”

Gage also added that he doesn’t want to make negative remarks about Jeff that Monroe could discover one day. “I think there’s an amount of, obviously, respect that you need to have, especially when you’re co-parenting,” he said.

He went on to state, “We have a long road ahead together. The three of us in some capacity. Or not. I’m hopeful for that in the future, but you never know.”

As Gage and Jeff continue to work towards settling on a final custody arrangement, Gage says he’s “not playing a victim in any of this” and is choosing to focus on the positive. “For what it’s worth, I’ve just always tried to find positive,” he said. “There’s really great positive things that have happened and gone on in my life.”

As for the possibility of a new relationship, Gage made it clear that he’s not looking to jump into anything new. “I’m single and I’m not ready to mingle,” he said. “I’m focused on Gage, and I’m focused on my daughter and business. “
