Is Kate Chastain Still in Yachting?
The Below Deck alum reveals how she feels about working as a chief stew today.
Kate Chastain may have exited Below Deck in 2020 after six seasons as chief stew, but does that mean she's said goodbye to yachting altogether?
That's exactly what Andy Cohen wanted to know when Kate appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on October 4 (clip above). "Do people approach you and say, 'I would love you to work on my boat?' Do you get yachting job offers?" Andy inquired, to which Kate replied, "I do. I do get a couple."
In fact, Kate recalled someone who recently hoped she would put on her epaulets once again. "I went out with some people for dinner that have three yachts on Friday night. So I said I'll go to the boat show with them, but I don't want to be a chief stew," Kate said, explaining, "Because I have a dog. I blame the dog."
Though Kate still keeps up with all things Below Deck (she already has thoughts on Season 9's new chief stew, Heather Chase), she wouldn't exactly want to join Captain Lee Rosbach's crew again, either. "There's no part of me that misses it," Kate said of Below Deck when a member of the virtual audience asked if there was "even a small part" that wishes she were a part of the upcoming Season 9. "I just really enjoy watching it from my couch."
We've seen Kate do just that alongside fellow Below Deck alum Ben Robinson as they comment on all the high seas drama in the current season of Below Deck Mediterranean Galley Talk, which airs Fridays at 8/7c on Bravo.
Below Deck Mediterranean's Lloyd Spencer certainly had an interesting reaction when asked if he would ever want Kate as his chief stew when he appeared with the Below Deck alum on WWHL this week (clip below). "Yeah, I'm sure we'd get on," Lloyd said, before adding, "I'm sure she'd terrify the s--t out of me."
"I love that," Kate reacted.
Check out the WWHL clip for more of Kate's thoughts on all things Below Deck, including her fellow chief stews and Captain Lee's leadership style.
Speaking of Captain Lee, Kate has, of course, kept in touch with the Below Deck boss since departing the show. She and Captain Lee have documented much of their time together over the past several months on Instagram. In one heartwarming post in August, Captain Lee described Kate as one of his and wife Mary Anne's "very best friends," adding, "Times like these should never be wasted."
Season 9 of Below Deck premieres Monday, October 25 at 9/8c with episodes streaming the next day on Peacock. Get your first look at the new season, below.
