Over the past two seasons of Below Deck, we've seen Chief Stew Kate Chastain deal with a very real condition: "bitchy resting face." Kate first opened up about it in Season 2 after Captain Lee Rosbach asked her to explain that blanket fold she left on charter guest Dean Slover's bed (clip above). (Yeah, you know the one.) Kate chalked up the "bitchy" attitude Dean called her out on to her "bitchy resting face" to the captain.

But since then, Kate has owned her "bitchy resting face," and we love her for that. In fact, we can't imagine Kate without her signature look. 

However, someone else may be stealing Kate's moves. "So the good thing is Old Resting Bitch Face is busy with her fashion company, so she seems to be staying out of our business," Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) said of nemesis Camilla Marks-Whiteman (Naomi Campbell) on Wednesday night's episode of Empire. 

After the episode aired, one fan suggested on Twitter that Kate should trademark "resting bitch face," to which she replied, "I've already hired the lawyer."

We're pretty sure Kate is just kidding here, but with her long history with that face, we think she has a pretty good case to make to have it be legally her own if she did want to put a TM on it. 

Exhibit A: Kate is never afraid to let her "bitchy resting face" flag fly on Below Deck.

We wonder what Kate was folding that blanket into...

"Bitchy Resting Face" is basically Kate's version of "Blue Steel."

Or on her days off.

And this isn't just a recent phenomenon for Kate. She has rocked this look for years before Below Deck.

Below Deck isn't the first time Kate has taken her "bitchy resting face" to the high seas.

A "bitchy resting face" is always the perfect accessory.

Kate has even discovered that "puppy resting face" is a thing.

Of course, Kate does plenty of smiling on- and off-screen, too. And she pretty much looks fabulous no matter what facial expression she has on. But no one can deny the fierceness of a little BRF.
