Producers Have a Theory on Why Jax Taylor Is "Acting Out" in Vanderpump Rules Season 8

Vanderpump Rules producers have noticed something major about Jax Taylor over the years.

By Laura Rosenfeld

You would think Jax Taylor would have been all about love in Season 8 of Vanderpump Rules since this was the season he tied the knot with Brittany Cartwright and all. However, Jax has been in constant conflict on the show, whether it was nearly uninviting Tom Sandoval from his wedding, sending so-called rage texts to Max Boyens, or getting into it with Kristen Doute at her James Mae event.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

Who better to unpack all of this than the Vanderpump Rules producers, who have gotten a front-row seat to all of the ups and downs in Jax's life over the past eight seasons? During an enhanced version of the May 5 episode that aired on May 12, producers revealed that they have noticed a pattern with Jax over the years. “Historically, Jax has acted out and self-sabotaged when things weren’t exciting enough in his life,” the producers said. “It seemed like he was having a wedding comedown… not consciously realizing why he was acting out."

Even though Brittany's "default mode is rainbows and butterflies," according to producers, they said that she "didn't cure" Jax "of all his issues." “He’s still very much ‘Jax’ and gets moody and lashes out at people,” the producers said.

The producers also shared that they talked to Jax and Brittany after filming their emotional discussion at home following the James Mae event. We always make sure everyone is going to be OK once we’re gone,” they explained.

Jax and Brittany's conversation stemmed from some drama he had with Kristen after calling her out for not being honest about a video of her with another man. The producers noted that Jax is "a pretty good gossip," but everyone else in the Vanderpump Rules crew is, too, especially Stassi Schroeder and Katie Maloney-Schwartz. “When Stassi and Katie get going together, their gossip sessions are pretty epic," the producers said.

One other thing that producers have noticed about Jax in all these seasons is that he doesn't have any noticeable "tells" when he's lying. “It’s why he’s been so good at it through the years,” they said.
