Josh Flagg Reveals "The Honest Truth" About Why He's Keeping His $9.2M Dilapidated House
The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent explains why he is officially keeping the shockingly run-down house he bought sight unseen.
While we've known Josh Flagg for many years thanks to Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, he has the ability to keep surprising us. The latest example? His decision to buy a $9.2M dollar house sight unseen, then realizing it was completely dilapidated on the inside, bringing Tracy Tutor on to sell it, and finally, on Season 15, Episode 6 of MDLLA, coming to the conclusion that he should keep it.
"Let's build a house," Josh told Tracy after thinking on it for a minute. "This is my decision, my designs, my house."
As the August 14 episode showed, before making his big decision, Josh called upon an architect to do a preliminary sight plan of what could happen with the home.
"We're gonna see what he has to show us, and then we're gonna make a decision whether we buy another house or build this f-cking palace," he explained. Luckily, he liked what he saw.
In a confessional, Josh expanded on his decision.
"I know I said I don't have the energy to do an entire gut renovation of Bedford, and I really don't. That's the honest truth," he shared. "With that said, going out and looking at several houses that are done and realizing that none of them give me what I want, I think to myself, 'Yeah, it's really annoying to build a house. But this is literally one of the most beautiful homes in the flats of Beverly Hills.' Do I really really really want to buy something else and get rid of this?"
Details on Josh Flagg's "Dream House"
During Season 15, Episode 3 of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, we saw Josh's real-time reaction when he and Tracy stepped inside the home for the first time and were met with a whole lot of disrepair.
"Let's see the upstairs. I'm sure the upstairs is better," said Josh, to which Tracy replied, "It's really f-cked up that from the outside it looks like a jewel."
Unfortunately, the upstairs was not any better.
"I've waited my whole life to see the inside of this house — suddenly the plot has changed,"Josh stated. "At least there's nice crown molding?"
Why did Josh Flagg buy a house sight unseen?
In the same episode, Flagg explained his decision to purchase the house without seeing what was going on inside.
"I've loved this house since I was a child. And by the way, I'm not alone. It's one of those beautiful houses that everyone walks by and is like 'It's so perfect,'" he shared.
Later, during a July 2024 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, he joked about how the purchase went down: "They told me it needed a little fluff, they didn't tell me it didn't have a ceiling!"
Well, now that that's all decided, tune into MDLLA Wednesdays at 9/8c (episodes stream the next day on Peacock) to see what happens with the space.
