Kim Fields Remembers That One Time She Almost Bit Kenan Thompson
The #RHOA newbie reveals what went on behind the scenes of Kenan & Kel.
We watched Kim Fields on TV for decades before she joined the cast The Real Housewives of Atlanta this season. In addition to taking over our screens with her famous roles on The Facts of Life and Living Single, Kim guest starred in and directed several episodes of the beloved '90s Nickelodeon show Kenan & Kel.
So was working with stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell as fun as it seems? Kim reminisced about one almost-dangerous moment on set when she guest starred as Kenan's teacher. "There was this thing where he had this dream where we were dancing the tango, so he and I were learning the tango, which is funny in and of itself. And at the end, I was supposed to take the flower — he was holding it in his teeth — and I had to grab it or something like that," Kim told The Daily Dish. "I forgot at the last minute. By the time I remembered, I darn near bit his head off. He's like, 'No! Stop! Cut! Cut!'"
Kim said she "adored" working on Kenan & Kel so much because she felt like her experience as a child star really helped her connect to the show's young cast. "I loved being able to pour into young people because they were pliable, you know, they knew what they were doing, and yet they welcomed direction," she explained. "At the same time, they respected what I was putting to the table because I had lived what they'd lived. I understand going from studio school to now we're on set. I understand the actual process your brain has to go through with I was just learning geometry. Now I have to go remember my lines."
Kel even showed his appreciation for Kim's past acting gigs on set one day — we think. "There was a time we had these turkeys on the show, and Kel surprised me," Kim said. "We were supposed to do a bit where they say, 'Well what should we name them?' And Kel pops out. 'We'll name this one Tootie and this one Regine,' and that was funny. So, you know, we had great fun on there, great fun." -Reporting by Andrew Herrmann
