Kim Kardashian's Robbers Dropped a $33,000 Necklace on the Ground — on Purpose
It was reportedly part of "a decoy escape," sources said.
Kim Kardashian's robbery in Paris last week, has just taken a turn to become something akin to a Hollywood heist movie. The thieves planned and executed a decoy escape in an effort to trick the police, a Paris police official told Us Weekly.
In this "sophisticated 'double bluff' escape ruse," one of the robbers fell off of a bicycle while another made it look like he accidentally dropped a piece of jewelry as the five men got away, the source said. "They wanted us to believe that they were amateurs, but all the real clues point to them being extremely sophisticated professionals," the official told Us. "There is no way a gang like this would drop stuff and fall off bicycles — all that was done for any cameras that might be in the area. It is far more likely that they played around on bikes for a few minutes after stealing the jewels, and when they still had their masks on, before they all got into a van and disappeared."
That piece of jewelry was a diamond cross pendant from Jacob and Co. worth a reported $33,180, TMZ first reported Monday. TMZ's sources said a passerby found the gem on the sidewalk outside of the apartment complex the day after the robbery. Police are now checking the necklace for any traces of DNA, according to TMZ.
Kim was photographed wearing a cross pendant in Paris on October 1, two days before the robbery on October 3 (photo above). It's unclear if it's the same necklace that was stolen and later recovered.
Kim was robbed of millions of dollars' worth of jewels at gunpoint at Paris' Hôtel de Pourtalès, including a $4.5 million ring that was recently gifted to her by her husband Kanye West. Kim has since returned back home to Los Angeles and has reportedly vowed to stop flaunting her wealth as much upon her return to the United States last week.
