What happened between Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula in Summer House Season 1?

Before Kyle entered the Hamptons house as an original cast member in Season 1, he had already dated and then broken up with Amanda.

“Amanda and I dated for seven months,” he explained in Season 1, Episode 2. “She wanted more of a commitment, but I’m not ready to take the next step, so I called things off.”

But the two “bumped into each other” shortly after filming started in Season 1 and they “hopped into our old ways,” he added.

Though Kyle once again told Amanda that he wasn’t ready to commit and promised himself that he was going to stop texting her, he drunkenly invited her to his hot tub in Episode 4.

“I know that we’re not dating. I know that you’re focused on your job,” Amanda told him during their 3 a.m. hot tub session. “I’m not asking you to marry me. I’m not asking you to have my children. But I don’t want to be f-cked over.”

In the season finale, Kyle recapped the summer as such: “The summer was all about figuring out if I was ready for a relationship. I spent the first half hooking up with my ex-girlfriend, which was confusing, and I spent the second half hooking up with other girls, which actually kind of helped because I think I finally figured it out.”

Kyle came clean to Amanda about all the girls he had hooked up with that summer, but told her he wanted to be in a relationship. Though Amanda was furious, she decided to stay the weekend and the two decided to give their relationship another official shot.

“I don’t know what the future holds,” Amanda shared in a confessional in the finale. “I love him.”

Kyle Has an Amanda Problem

What happened between Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula in Summer House Season 2?

The two officially entered the house together as a couple — and Kyle even gave Amanda a key to his apartment. Still, there were plenty of ups and downs that summer.

After the season wrapped, Amanda shared an update on their relationships with The Daily Dish in April 2018.

"We're still living in our own apartments. I still only have a key. I still don't have a toothbrush. There's no drawer,” she said. “But we're really strong."

"There's more conversations about marriage and moving in. And I think the relationship is getting a little bit more serious, and I've made it very clear that [Kyle's] getting old. If I'm not the one, you should probably break up with me because you're wasting your time," she added. "But we're headed in a really good direction. And like I said, our relationship is stronger than it's been. We've had some really tough fights, but fighting, I think, is important in a relationship because it means you're passionate about something. So we've been able to work things out and figure out things that bother us about each other or how to have conversations in a way that won't transpire into an argument."

Can Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula Really Last?

What happened between Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula in Summer House Season 3?

In the Season 3 premiere, Lindsay Hubbard brought up rumors that Kyle had previously cheated on Amanda and, in Episode 2, Kyle copped to the indiscretion.

"A year ago, I was on a guys' trip, I blacked out, and I woke up with a girl in my bed," he said. "I've never felt worse in my entire life."

It turns out, Amanda already knew and the two worked through it, with Amanda reaffirming her love for Kyle while reiterating that he had "no more chances."

"You mean so much to me, I don't ever want to put you through what I put you through," he told her. "I'm 110 percent in this. We're in this together."

Despite their spoken commitments, the two had a huge fight in Season 3 Episode 5 over Kyle's heavy drinking. “You become this like mean person and I just don’t like it,” she said, before admitting that she still resented him for cheating on her, and his excessive partying made her fear he'd slip up in a similar way again.

Kyle vowed to prove to her that he was “capable of making good decisions” moving forward.

Despite their hurdles, in the Season 3 finale (which was filmed in 2018), Kyle proposed to Amanda aboard a yacht with a gorgeous ring.

Following the engagement, Amanda told People that it felt "surreal" to be engaged to Kyle. “Aside from how funny and sexy he is, Kyle’s my best friend. He’s the person I go to for everything. And he forces me to be a better person in different ways by pushing me outside of my comfort zone," she gushed. "Life with him is exciting. And to think he wants to spend the rest our his life with me and I feel the same way, it’s just a real happy feeling.”

Kyle added, “Amanda’s the most authentic, genuine person I’ve ever met. I really look up to her. She’s incredibly selfless, thoughtful, generous and accommodating. She puts family and friends as the top priority, and bends over backwards for the people that are important to her. That’s what you look for in someone you want to spend the rest of your life with. She’s a hell of a partner.”

Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula Are Officially…

When was Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula's "practice" wedding on Summer House?

Unfortunately, Kyle and Amanda’s wedding had to be postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After May 2020 and September 2020 didn’t work out, they aimed for June 2021. However, Amanda explained on The Daily Dish Podcast that in the winter of 2020, when “the vaccine didn’t seem to be progressing as quickly as we thought it would, we just decided to get out of our [wedding venue] contract and push it back again.”

“Our venue was indoors. There was no outdoor option,” Amanda said. “Our minimum is 225. We couldn’t guarantee that we could have 225 people inside a venue on June 18 [2021] — and, she noted, by then, most places were booked well into 2022.

But before that, the couple enjoyed a “practice wedding” with their friends in the Hamptons, which took place while filming for six weeks straight in the late summer of 2020, according to The Wrap, and aired during the Season 5 finale in 2021.

“It was really nice to have it feel like our friends were like, excited and happy to celebrate us,” Amanda reflected during the Summer House Season 5 After Show. “We are still so happy.”

When did Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula get married?

Kyle and Amanda officially tied the knot (finally!) on September 25, 2021 in her parents’ backyard in her hometown of Hillsborough, New Jersey. The joyous occasion aired on the Season 6 finale.

Kyle opened up about his and Amanda’s wedding in an Instagram post, calling it, “the happiest day” of his life.

“Nothing compares to the feeling of marrying your best friend and letting your other best friend make it official," he said. "I know we aren’t the role model couple — we have our flaws and we put them all out there for everyone to judge — but we both know what true love is and what’s worth fighting for."

"I realize that our family, friends and fans don’t get to see everything (especially the happy parts that make for boring TV) so I want to thank everyone for their love and support through our ups and downs," he added. "I think we were thrown every possible curveball during our 3-year engagement, 2 TV shows, and 1 crazy ride running Loverboy during a pandemic, but here we are. Husband and wife!”

All the Tea on Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula’s Wedding

Did Kyle Cooke cheat on Amanda Batula after they got married?

During Part 1 of the Season 7 reunion, which aired in May 2023, the cast discussed rumors that had circulated after the cameras stopped rolling: that Kyle had had a secret affair during the prior summer.

"According to the internet, I've had affairs, I think, with Sam [Feher], Mya, Ciara [Miller], so... I think the internet's a powerful drug," Kyle said. "Obviously, any time that comes around, it's triggering for Amanda."

Amanda had already denied the rumors when she appeared as a guest on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in February 2023. "I laughed at it," Amanda said about the rumor, later adding that she "live[s] with him" and, therefore, knows what he's doing at all times.

Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula Confront Lindsay Hubbard: "Lindsay Is Great at Producing Herself"

What happens to Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula in Summer House Season 8?

In Season 3 of Winter House, which aired in 2023, Kyle and Amanda discussed their future plans to have children together after a pregnancy scare. Amanda was relieved by the negative test results, but Kyle’s feelings were more mixed.

When Summer House returned for Season 8 on February 22, fans got an update on where they stand today and what’s next for the couple.

"Over the winter, I ended up taking a pregnancy test, and I feel like ever since, we haven't been in a really good place. Taking that test really made us start to think about what's next for us, and we're not ready," Amanda explained in the season premiere. "I might be in my 'no patience' era for Kyle specifically," she told the girls shortly after arriving at the house.

Later in the episode, Amanda got frustrated at Kyle at the carnival when, shortly after he shared, "What I want for this summer is for us to actually spend more time together," he went on the Ferris wheel with just his stuffed banana instead.

Amanda also expressed her concern that Kyle works too much.
