The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills sisters, Kyle Richards and Kathy Hilton, never miss a chance to remember their late mom, Kathleen Richards, who died of breast cancer in 2002. In fact, when it came time to celebrate her birthday, Kyle took to Instagram to honor her mom and her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, definitely didn't miss the chance to also pay tribute to the late family matriarch.

"Happy Birthday Mom Miss you every day," Kyle wrote, alongside throwback family photos (below). After sharing the post to Instagram, Mauricio took to the comments, writing, "Happy birthday" along with several heart emojis.

In April, Kathy and Kyle stepped out to support a good cause that also just so happens to be a personal matter for the siblings. The pair (along with Kathy's husband, Rick Hilton) attended the event, "An Unforgettable Evening" Benefiting The Woman's Cancer Research Fund, on April 10 in Los Angeles.

What Kyle Richards has said about her mom Kathleen's cancer battle

Previously, Kyle has been open about how her mother's diagnosis and death affected her. She got a mammogram on an episode of RHOBH in 2019 and later opened up about why she wanted to share that experience with viewers.

"I lost my mom to breast cancer in 2002. The fact that she hadn’t had a mammogram in 5 years haunts me," she shared on what was then called Twitter. "I really wanted to show this to bring awareness re early detection and as a reminder to get checked."

She added, "I was scared to do this with cameras but felt it was important."

Kyle Richards' recent comments on her mom, Kathleen, and her sisters

While appearing on the March 27 episode of the Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast, Kyle shed more light on her childhood and relationship with her mom. During the conversation, she revealed how her daughters' bond is very different than the one she developed with her siblings, Kathy and Kim Richards, as a child.

“They [my daughters] could not be more different than my sisters and me,” she said on the podcast. Kyle continued by revealing “some mistakes” her mom made by constantly comparing Kathy, Kim, and her to one other. “I do remember her like saying, ‘Why don’t you do this like so and so?’ To Kim, ‘Why don’t you do what Kyle does?’ Things like that,” Kyle said on the podcast.

Despite Kyle’s mother comparisons, the RHOBH wife noted that she was “never jealous” of her siblings, and that’s a similar quality her daughters have in their relationships.

In a 2019 Instagram tribute to her mom, Kyle revealed the lesson on motherhood she learned from her, writing, "My Mom taught me that being a Mother is the most important job in the world, to be strong , dream big and that I could achieve whatever I wanted in life."
