Matthew Rhys Reveals Who Got to Keep His Prosthetic Penis on the Set of Girls

Actor Matthew Rhys, best known for his role on The Americans, also played creepy professor Chuck Palmer in an episode of Girls during Season 6. By the end of said episode, he exposes himself in front of Lena Dunham’s character, and we all got to see it. Well, what we actually saw was a totally fake prosthetic penis — and one fan who called into Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Thursday night wanted to know what became of it after filming wrapped.

“I’ve been dying to know, did you get to keep the prosthetic penis from Girls?" she asks. "And I'm wondering, if you did, where it might be."

Matthew, whose fellow WWHL guest happened to be his girlfriend, Keri Russell, responded very politely by making it into a joke, saying, "Sadly, the second they said, 'Cut,' it was it cruelly snatched from my hands for the simple reason that they saw how much I was coveting it on set and said it had to go back to a 'property store' or prop store. Which I think was a lie."

That's much better than saying, "I don't know." But it does make one wonder if there's a giant warehouse somewhere stacked high with crates full of all of TV's prosthetic penises. Only the prop master knows.
