Mercedes "MJ" Javid Reveals Why She Was Admitted to the ICU After Her Son's Birth
The Shahs of Sunset mom "lost two thirds of my body’s blood supply."
Mercedes "MJ" Javid has confirmed why she was placed in the ICU following her son's birth on April 17. In an interview with Us Weekly, the Shahs of Sunset mom details the complications she had after having a C-section last week.
“During my delivery, I lost two thirds of my body’s blood supply, requiring 19 units of blood during the surgery, then [was] intubated and placed in ICU from having significant fluid in my lungs after my C-section,” she told the publication.
Husband Tommy Feight confirmed she had been admitted to the ICU after welcoming their son, Shams Francis Feight, on Instagram: "My wife had a ton of complications. She was in surgery for like five hours. They didn't tell me nothing. But they're amazing at Cedars. They saved a life... She still hasn't held her baby yet. That should probably happen later today though."
Eventually, she did hold her baby and has since confirmed she's home with Shams.
The pregnancy, like the delivery, wasn’t always easy for the new mom, who was put on bedrest along the way following a miscarriage scare. MJ added to Us Weekly "Tommy and I are truly blessed” now that they have their little bundle of joy.
