Did Nile Rodgers Just Throw Shade at Madonna's Prince Tribute?
The music legend dished about the late icon and the Queen of Pop on #WWHL.

As you might recall, not everyone was moved by Madonna's tribute to Prince during the 2016 Billboard Music Awards back in May. It was so divisive that even before the Queen of Pop took the the stage, angry Prince fans started a petition to get her replaced. Now, Prince's pal, Nile Rodgers, is sharing his assessment on her controversial performance. Well, kind of.
"Ummm... it was interesting," he said on Watch What Happens Live Tuesday. That answer didn't seem to satisfy Andy Cohen, who pressed him further about the semi-shady response. "See, stuff like that is really hard for me because I was incredibly close to Prince," he said, adding, "and close to Madonna."
Madge's homage to the Purple One came about a month after Prince was found dead at his famed Chanhassen, Minnesota compound, Paisley Park, on April 21. Following her performance, Madonna headed to Instagram to defend it, writing, "Anyone who wants to do a tribute to Prince is welcome to. Whatever your age Gender or skin Color. If you loved him and he inspired you then show it!!!! I love Prince 4 ever."
Earlier this month on WWHL, Tamron Hall, who was also close to the musician, reflected on his passing. Check out her thoughts, below.
