The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum took to Instagram on Friday (August 25) to share a passionate response to the recent criticism she received over her marriage update. The drama all began on August 11, when Porsha hosted an Amazon Live event in which she gushed over her husband, Simon Guobadia, and their first year of marriage.

Porsha Williams says, "Married life is amazing"

“Married life is amazing. It’s just such a blessing to have my own best friend that I get to cuddle with,” she said during the broadcast. “Last night was not a formal date night at all. We just took advantage of the fact that [her daughter] PJ was with her dad, and we just had drinks, and we just sat downstairs on our patio. We didn’t even turn the TV on… We didn’t turn on music. It was just he and I just sitting down there, chattin’, talkin’… It’s just so good, y’all.”

Porsha Williams urges others to spot "red flags" in potential partners

Porsha went on to encourage viewers to find their partners while making sure to keep their “standards high.” She also urged the audience to "walk away" from a relationship if they begin to notice any negative signs.

“If it’s someone who is showing red flags, just leave. Period,” she explained. “I don’t care, it could be the smallest red flag. You are not meant to fix them.”

She continued: “My husband didn’t have red flags… If he had red flags that were red flags for me, I would’ve walked away. And when I tell y’all, it’s just so wonderful."

Porsha Williams questions the criticism of her relationship

Weeks after the Amazon Live event, Porsha acknowledged that her "red flag" comments were met with some criticism; however, she questioned why there was “so much hate” now that she’s in a happy relationship.

“I can remember not long ago when I was crying about being cheated on while I was pregnant when I was in a bad marriage, so many women were saying we’re praying for you and you deserve better!” she wrote on Instagram. “But just look ladies when you get better and receive the love you deserve some people are still mad. So at the end of the day just do you, you do deserve love and you are worthy, you will have everything that God has for you… Thank you to all those who truly rally behind black girl’s happiness. I will continue to share my journey and my love and pray for the same for all of my sweet followers.”

Simon co-signed Porsha's message and returned her kind words.

Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia's Blended Family

Porsha and Simon — who has five other kids from previous relationships — got married in November 2022, just a couple of years after Porsha and her ex-fiancé Dennis McKinley called it quits. The former couple share one child together — a daughter named Pilar Jhena “PJ” McKinley — and have successfully navigated co-parenting life. The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip alum touched on the family dynamics in the June 11 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

“It’s going great, it really is,” Porsha said about her relationship with Dennis. “Yeah, we live near each other. Our relationship is good.”
