Quad Webb Speaks About the Importance of Allyship in the Black Lives Matter Movement
"If you look past the color of our skin, you'll find we have more commonalities than not," Quad Webb said.
Quad Webb is encouraging everyone — whatever their background — to come together in the fight for racial equality.
The Married to Medicine cast member highlighted the importance of allyship in the Black Lives Matter movement during the Moment of Mazel in the June 24 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home. "I'm pleased to see so many people of all colors, creeds, races, and religions coming together in protest worldwide to demolish systemic racism," she said. "Let's keep the momentum going. We need more allies to help impact change and move the needle forward."
Quad went on to note how we all want the same things out of life for ourselves and our loved ones. "It begins with you at home. If you look past the color of our skin, you'll find we have more commonalities than not," she shared. "We all want a great education for our children, equal pay in our careers, proper healthcare, and not to be racially profiled when leaning on our financial institutions. Most certainly, we do not want to be slain in the streets by men and women who are supposed to protect and serve."
She ended her message by emphasizing that this is a movement and not just a moment. "Dealing with the truth can be challenging emotionally and sometimes uncomfortable," Quad said. "But this is a harsh reality for Black people in America, which is why Black Lives Matter is a revolution and not just a hashtag."
Quad has been using her platform to shine a light on racial injustice in the wake of the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd earlier this year. She recently included a poignant message in support of the Black Lives Matter movement while introducing her new baby girl, Ari, on Instagram for the fist time on June 23. "Life is precious, it should be protected and valued," Quad captioned the photo, along with "#BlackLivesMatter."
