Raquel Leviss Says There Was "Tension" Before James and Lala's Latest Collaboration

The Vanderpump Rules cast member opens up about her boyfriend's working relationship with Lala.

By Jocelyn Vena

It seems like even when Lala Kent and James Kennedy have had a falling out, they always appear to mend their fences and end up back in the studio together. Recently, the Vanderpump Rules co-stars dropped a new track, "Playboy Bunny," and well, given Raquel Leviss' own drama-filled history with Lala, she definitely has feelings when her boyfriend collaborates with her.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

"Well, there was a little bit of tension, you know, when James and Lala are always back and forth, and Lala and I are always back and forth," she explained to The Daily Dish. "So like it’s not a clear-cut like woo-hoo, yeah, I want you to make a song with Lala. But it’s more of an understanding that this is his music career and I want him to do well in that. If Lala and him are good, I want them to be good, and I feel like music is a great way to bring people together."

And, given that James has collaborated with basically every musically-minded person on the cast (more on that below), Raquel dished if she'd ever want to jump on a track with her beau.

"I feel like I would, but there’s like two things that are in the way. One, I’m not very musically talented. I can hear mus[ic] — I love music, I love working with James on his music. And I’ll tell him like ooh you should do this or that, or like he’ll be playing something and I’ll run in the room and be like this is so good and we’ll start jumping around," she said. "But I cannot sing. And I don’t really want to sing."

There are other issues: "And I couldn’t imagine like performing on a stage with him. And then the other thing, James is very serious about his music and his DJ career has taken off since the show, but he wants to like keep it as separate as possible. So, if we start making music together then people will just like think, 'Oh, that’s Raquel and James from the show.' And it won’t like excel him into the direction that he wants to be going. If that makes sense. "
