Everything You Need to Know About RHOA’s Returning Friend, Monyetta Shaw-Carter

The Season 15 friend played Cupid for one of her fellow cast members — and she “got it right.”

The peach holders on The Real Housewives of Atlanta are officially back for an especially juicy Season 15, and the (flapper) gloves came off during the May 7 premiere thanks to a Roaring ’20s–themed birthday party.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Peacock and the Bravo App.

Kandi Burruss, Kenya Moore, Marlo Hampton, Shereé Whitfield, Sanya Richards-Ross, and Drew Sidora were back as full-time ’Wives, and they were joined by returning friend Monyetta Shaw-Carter and new friend Courtney Rhodes.

Though Monyetta, who is connected to the group through her long-standing friendship with Kandi, did appear on the 14th season, viewers are getting to know her like never before on Season 15. Find out everything you need to know about Monyetta by scrolling below!

Who is Monyetta Shaw-Carter? Plus, Meet Her Family

Monyetta made her RHOA debut at the tea party Kenya held for daughter Brooklyn Doris Daly’s third birthday.

“I met Monyetta through Kandi,” Kenya said on Season 14, Episode 3. “But before that, I knew her as Ne-Yo’s ex and baby mama.”

As Kenya mentioned, Monyetta shares daughter Madilyn “Maddie” and son Mason with her ex-partner, Ne-Yo.

Monyetta dated the “Because of You” singer from 2009 to 2013. Following their split, Monyetta created The Co-Parenting Planner, and she wrote Keep It Classy about how to successfully co-parent with an ex.

She also wrote kids’ books featuring her own children called The Adventures of Maddie and The Chronicles of Nice Guy Maso, and she is the founder of The Evan Grace Group.

Monyetta married Heath Carter in 2021, and the spouses have a blended family (Heath has a daughter from a previous relationship).

Monyetta May Clash with Pal Kandi Burruss on Season 15

As viewers saw on the premiere, Monyetta and Kandi are still reeling from a disagreement they got into on Season 14. In case you need a refresher, Monyetta told Marlo that Kandi had questioned why the munty had temporarily kicked her nephews, Michael and William, out of the house. The Xscape singer thought Monyetta was siding with Marlo over her.

“I have been knowing my girl Kandi for a very long time, so I did feel some type of way when she thought I was agreeing with Marlo,” Monyetta said in an interview on the Season 15 premiere. “She knows me, she knows that I’m going to try to get both sides of the story. But I didn’t like the way that it was perceived at all, and so I’m sorry.”

Though Kandi and Monyetta seem to be back on track, Monyetta’s official bio indicates that her close friendship with the Grammy winner could threaten her ability to form friendships with the other women. As the bio reads, “Monyetta is trying to be a good friend while navigating the tough waters of being loyal to Kandi while showing the other ladies she can be true to them as well.”

Monyetta Is Playing Matchmaker for Kenya Moore

As Kenya confirmed on the May 7 episode, Monyetta is responsible for introducing her to the new man in her life, Roi — and she “got it right.”

“Monyetta is best friends with this super bachelor named Roi, so she made an introduction, and I’m, like, kind of crazy about him,” Kenya said on the episode. “He’s been very kind to me, he’s funny, he makes me feel alive, and he’s not bad on the eyes.”

Though Monyetta played Cupid for Kenya, she wasn’t all about the love connections on the premiere. At Aaron Ross’ birthday party, she had some questions for Shereé about her new man, Martell Holt

Monyetta told Shereé that she was “hearing some things” about the Love & Marriage: Huntsville cast member. Shereé did appreciate that Monyetta came to her to talk, but she wasn’t bothered by the rumors.

However, someone else was bothered, as the premiere ended with Martell exchanging some words with Kenya. You’ll have to stay tuned to find out what happens next.
