Cameran Eubanks Warns Fans Shep Rose Was Hacked and Someone Impersonating Him Was Asking for Money (UPDATED)
The Southern Charm bachelor was not the one stranded and asking for donations, according to Cameran Eubanks.
UPDATE (JULY 23, 2:52 p.m.): Shep has since commented on the hacking on Twitter, confirming the information Cam had shared with fans earlier: "My phone was hacked last night. I have no idea how. It was through Instagram. Sorry for the confusion. It’s been a frustrating."
The original story continues below.
Despite a plea asking for money on his Instagram Stories this week, Cameran Eubanks is here to clarify that the request was not coming from Shep Rose, but instead someone who hacked his phone. She confirmed the news on her own Instagram Stories after she was flooded with direct messages on Instagram from fans concerned about her Southern Charm friend.
The message that originally appeared on Shep's Instagram that Cameran was referring to was asking for $500 from fans after the person pretending to be Shep claimed to be stuck in California without access to money. Now, Cameran is here to explain exactly what went down.
"I wanted to give a PSA to everyone who has DMed me over night, literally 100s of people asking about Shep," she said. "Yes, his account was hacked. No, that was not him asking for money. That was somebody else. It was a scam. If you sent money, I'm very sorry. Somebody obviously got a hold of Shep's phone."
As of press time, Shep's Instagram account had been disabled with the following message appearing instead of his stream of photos: "Sorry, this page isn't available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed. Go back to Instagram."
On her own account, Cameran did confirm that Shep is doing fine in the wake of the event: "And, yes, he is OK. We got into contact with him last night and he is fine. So there you have it."
