Ariana Madix Opens Up About Her “Hard” Year: “I’m Really Barely Hanging On”
Amid major changes to her personal life, the Vanderpump Rules cast member shared an update on how she's doing.
Ariana Madix is sharing more about her difficult year.
When the ladies of Vanderpump Rules took a girls trip to Las Vegas on Season 10, Ariana left the trip early because she learned that her 18-year-old dog, Charlotte, was "not going to come back" following a seizure.
"I just can't wrap my head around what life is gonna be like without her," Ariana said on Episode 5 about the "surreal" situation. "She's my best friend."
About a month after Ariana's dog died, the former SUR bartender lost her grandmother, Bonnie. Following her grandma's passing, Ariana said that she felt like she was going through "emotional exhaustion."
"I wish that it would just stop happening," she said on the April 26 episode. "I just kind of want a break."
During Raquel Leviss' glamping birthday trip on the May 3 episode, Ariana talked to Raquel and fellow guests Scheana Shay, Brock Davies, Tom Sandoval, and Tom Schwartz about how difficult her latest visit home had been following the loss of her grandmother.
"It is a very weird feeling to not be going home to see my grandma..." Ariana shared with the group. "I just kept thinking, 'I just wish I could talk to her.'"
As Ariana explained in an interview on the latest episode, the losses have taken a toll on her.
"It's been a really hard year for me, losing Charlotte and now losing my grandma," she said. "I'm not well. I'm really, barely hanging on, to be honest."
About six months after her grandmother passed away, Ariana went through another major life change. The Something About Her co-creator and Tom Sandoval ended their nine-year relationship amid rumors that he had been romantically involved with Raquel.
Just over two weeks after the news of their split broke, Ariana took to her Instagram page to share how she was doing.
“I want to express my most sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support i have received from friends, family, and people I’ve never even met in the last two weeks," she wrote in the caption of her post, which featured a photo of her wearing a pink and green maxi dress. "When I have felt like I couldn’t even stand, you all have given me the strength to continue and seen me through my darkest hours."
Ariana went on to note that she was grieving the loss of her relationship, as were some of her friends.
"To say I have been devastated and broken is an understatement. However, I know that I am not in this alone. So many of my closest friends are also grieving this loss right now and reeling from this betrayal on so many levels. I am so f--king lucky to have the best support system in the world and I hope I can repay every single person for the love you have shown me," she added. "What doesn’t kill me better run."
