For months now, fans have been eager to learn the chain of events that unfolded after Vanderpump Rules' Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval broke up — and now, the wait is finally over. During the "Spilling the Vanderpump Tea with Bravo Producers" panel at BravoCon 2023, executive producers Alex Baskin, Jeremiah Smith, Natalie Neurauter, and Sheonna Mix detailed just how the shocking news was communicated to the team behind Vanderpump Rules.

And though the executive producers physically hesitated to share this bit of information, Jeremiah ultimately shared a "funny story," revealing that they had forgotten to call Lisa Vanderpump to notify her themselves.

That task was instead left up to Andy Cohen, who unintentionally spilled the beans. "Andy said, 'I goofed. I told Lisa, I thought she knew.' He's like, 'Can you believe that?'" Alex explained, jumping in to tell his part of the story.

Already embroiled in the drama, Jeremiah then had to face Lisa, who was upset to find out about the split by accident.

"So she called me and was like, 'How was I not the first person you called?'" he recalled, imitating her British accent.

In Jeremiah's defense, he said, "The day that I found out was crazy."

How the Vanderpump Rules Team Learned of Tom and Ariana's Split

As for how the entire team found out, well, it was simply by chance. Jeremiah said they were prepping for the reunion and had texted Ariana to ask "something very pedestrian like wanting to swing by her house," to which she replied that she couldn't because she "just found out that Tom has been having an affair."

That was when the team jumped into action, getting cameras ready to film in just two days time.

Then, Andy found out because Jax Taylor was going to be on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen the following week. And as Sheonna put it, "Jax would've told everything."

Though that was the first time the executive producers knew about the split, Sheonna said she had suspicions when she was reviewing the footage.

"I kept seeing like little things like them lying," she recalled.

As Sheonna watched the scenes more closely, she noticed that the other cast members were speculating about Tom and Ariana's relationship but that they hadn't put the pieces together just yet. "I remember calling Jeremiah because we were getting ready for the reunion. And I was like, 'Jeremiah and Natalie, are we telling the right story?'" she said.

But as the saying goes, the truth always comes out.
