What's Kristen Doute Done Since Leaving Vanderpump Rules? A Whole Lot's Changed

Kristen Doute's stayed busy since appearing on Vanderpump Rules

By Jax Miller

Former Vanderpump Rules castmate Kristen Doute joins Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright in The Valley — coming to Bravo this spring — trading in their partying ways for the gang’s next stage of life.

How to Watch

Watch The Valley on Peacock.

Despite an epic cameo in the Vanderpump Rules Season 10 finale, The Valley marks Kristen’s first time as a show regular since her eight-season run on Vanderpump Rules between 2013 and 2020. Of course, a lot can happen in a few years.

Here's everything Kristen's done since leaving Vanderpump Rules.

Kristen Doute writes book, He’s Making You Crazy

In June 2020, Kristen published her debut book, He’s Making You Crazy: How to Get the Guy, Get Even, and Get Over It. The comical autobiography was co-authored by Michele Alexander, famous for her book How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, which was famously adapted into a film starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson.

Published by Chicago Review Press, He’s Making You Crazy expands on Kristen’s “cringe-worthy” dating history.

He’s Making You Crazy will hold your hand through deep self-reflection while giving you that push to put on your detective’s hat and hack your man’s email account if you need to,” according to the publisher’s blurb. “From trapping your boyfriend in ridiculous lies to gathering all your crush’s security question answers on the first date, Kristen shares her no-holds-barred, hysterically funny, and hard-earned advice on men, love, and modern dating.”

Kristen Doute Continues T-Shirt Business

In 2014, Kristen launched James Mae — a Y-shirt line named after her nephew and niece — and a relaunch of the brand was featured on Vanderpump Rules in 2018.

Fans might recall the gang getting together to celebrate Kristen’s success,  and the collection — which includes graphic tees for men and women and other accessories — is still alive and well, as seen on the James Mae website.

According to the brand, Kristen was “inspired by the West Coast, music, nostalgia, less-is-more kinda vibes” when creating the Los Angeles-based company. James Mae has its own Instagram page with aesthetics leaning folksy, witchy, and bohemian.

James Mae has gotten a lot of good press over the years, featured in PEOPLE, BuzzFeed, Us Weekly, and more.

Kristen Doute Launches Podcast Sex, Love… and What Else Matters?

In November 2022, Kristen launched the podcast Sex, Love… and What Else Matters? with her boyfriend, Luke Broderick, who’ll also co-star in The Valley. The couple discusses sex, love, and relationships from opposite male and female perspectives in “unfiltered, vulnerable, and of course sexy” style, according to the podcast’s description.

Topics include debunking myths and exploring the painful truths of couple-ism.

“[Kristen] shares personal stories, from bad dates to broken hearts, including the ones you didn’t see while she was on reality TV or written in her popular book, He’s Making You Crazy,” per the bio. “Kristen and Luke discuss the importance of emotional intelligence and communication along with raw and candid conversations surrounding intimacy and sex.”

Kristen and Luke have welcomed a few guests to the mic as well, including The Valley’s Zack Wickham and Nia Booko, as well as Scheana Shay, to name just a few.

Kristen Doute Launches Wine Basic Bitch Potion No. 1

Few Vanderpump Rules fans will forget the Witches of WeHo, consisting of Kristen, Katie Maloney, and Stassi Schroeder. In 2019, the coven banded to create a Pinot Grigio wine called Basic Bitch Potion No. 1.

A Basic Bitch Potion No. 2 rosé came later that same year.

Due to setbacks, the wine was discontinued. However, Nocking Point Wines — the brand’s partner with Arrow’s Stephen Amell at the helm — brought the Pinot Grigio back in 2023 with Kristen and Katie on board.

“Spring is pinot grigio season, and this one stands above the rest with its secret ingredient: The tears of your exes!” the wine manufacturer states.

The rosé, featuring notes of grapefruit, cherry, lemon, and rose petal, is currently available as part of a "super" limited release.

A "red blend" called Basic Witch Potion No. 3, has since been introduced and described as a perfect summer vino where "a symphony of nocturnal flavors unfold," such as obsidian berries, blackberry, black currant, and forbidden dark cherry.

"Enveloped within the depths of shadows lie the complexities of an elixir, an enigma woven with intrigue," states the Nocking Wines' website. "Behold, a potion of dark allure, its aromatic tendrils caressing the senses with mystic whispers."

What’s next for Kristen Doute?

Kristen and her new beau, Luke, will appear in new Bravo series The Valley this spring. After meeting at a wedding in Colorado, Luke — described as “an outdoorsman who enjoys fishing and hunting in the Rocky Mountains,” per his Bravo bio — and Kristen have settled in Los Angeles, despite Luke not being a fan of Hollywood’s “hustle and bustle.”

“This duo has a lot to juggle, including starting a family, caring for three dogs, running multiple businesses, and not to mention, figuring out which state they want to call home,” per the show’s announcement.

The show features former Vanderpump Rules cast members Kristen Doute, Jax Taylor, and Brittany Cartwright, as well as fresh-faced couples Nia and Danny Booko, Jason and Janet Caperna, Jesse and Michelle Lally, plus Luke Broderick, Zack Wickham, and Jasmine Goode.

The Valley is scheduled to premiere in the spring of 2024.
