Chef Mathew Shea Is Not Happy to Meet Luka, Below Deck Med's Back Up Chef

Earlier this season of Below Deck Mediterranean, Captain Sandy Yawn had put a backup chef in quarantine in case things didn't work out with Chef Mathew Shea. In fact, when Mat returned to the yacht after quitting a second time, Captain Sandy informed him that he would be leaving after working one last charter once the new chef gets out of quarantine.

However, Mat proved himself so much that charter that Captain Sandy decided to let him stay to finish out the rest of the season. So, it looked like we would not be meeting this backup chef, after all.

That was the case until now. In a preview for the Below Deck Med Season 6 finale (clip above) airing Monday, October 18 at 9/8c, Captain Sandy invites the backup chef, Luka, to the Lady Michelle for a drink with the crew. When Luka arrives to the yacht, he gets a warm welcome from the deck crew and Captain Sandy, who asks him how quarantine went. "It was not actually that easy," the chef tells the Below Deck Med boss. "Four walls for four weeks."

We then see Luka go down into the crew mess where he introduces himself as the backup chef to Malia White and Mat, who notes that it's a bit of an awkward situation for him. "It's f--king uncomfortable," Mat says in an interview in the sneak peek.

Another yachtie similarly caused a bit of a stir when she came out of quarantine to join the Lady Michelle crew. Delaney Evans was brought on board to help out in the interior after Captain Sandy gave chief stew Katie Flood the option of adding a fourth stew to her team. Delaney immediately rocked the boat upon her arrival to the yacht due to some questions about the experience listed on her CV, the need for a major cabin rearrangement, and David Pascoe crushing on the crew member.

Katie ultimately decided to let Delaney go after she worked one charter this season. The chief stew also chose not to bring Delaney back when the interior ended up down a crew member.

We'll have to wait and see how Luka shakes things up when the Below Deck Med Season 6 finale airs Monday, October 18 at 9/8c.
