With the New Year on the horizon, we've got new diet plans on the brain. (We may have indulged in just a couple of extra cookies in the past few days. See also: stuffing.) And since Drew Barrymore just shed an impressive 25 pounds, we're willing to take notes on exactly what the Charlie's Angels actress is eating every day.
On December 21, Barrymore posted an inspiring message about her new healthy-living regime. Showing a before-and-after photo of herself, she wrote: "Here is me in a before pose and then 25 pounds later in the same place. You can tell my face is so much thinner! This takes me so much work. Diet and exercise and fighting like a lion for it!"
See? No magic bullets — or even fasting — here. Just salads. Lots of salads. According to a source who spoke to Hollywood Life, "Drew really wanted to get in shape, her weight has fluctuated her whole life but as she’s gotten older she’s definitely started finding it harder to drop the weight than gain it."
“She worked really hard to lose the 25 pounds, it wasn’t an easy loss by any means, she cut out all processed foods and ate really clean, lots of fresh veggies and salads... and then she ate nuts for a snack if she was feeling hungry between meals. Drew also cut out carbs from her diet and upped her intake of protein, so lots of lean chicken and fish as well as the occasional steak."
