Ah, Meghan Markle and her interest in veganism. It's a topic that's led to some contentious moments at the palace, if reports are to be believed. You might ask, what's so controversial about kale? Well, let's dig in:

Allegedly, Queen Elizabeth isn't too pleased Markle and Prince Harry plan to raise their baby vegan. And then there was that time the duchess and the queen (also allegedly) butted heads over eggs.

According to Katie Nicholl, a royal correspondent for Vanity Fair, Markle wanted to make sure that her wedding menu had a macrobiotic option for the wedding guests who follow the diet. (You know, the Hollywood types.) Let's just say, the tasting apparently didn't go so well.

"[Meghan] got very upset when she felt that she could taste egg in a dish when she was told there was no egg in there, and she said, ‘No, I can taste it, I can taste there’s egg in this dish,’" wrote Nicholl. The words don't sound all that harsh, but maybe her tone was?

All we know is that Nicholl alleges the queen walked by just then and pulled Markle aside for a little chat. "I think there was a bit of an upset when suddenly the queen walked in because of course, this was Windsor Castle, this is her home,” Nicholl said. “And she just quietly took Meghan to the side and said, ‘Meghan, in this family, we don’t speak to people like that.’"

Markle's not strictly vegan, note, just mostly. She once gave an interview in which she summed up her eating habits like this: "I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends. But at the same time, it’s all about balance. Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things. It’s not a diet; it’s lifestyle eating."
