This “Strong and Powerful” Interview Look Symbolizes a Major First for Dorit Kemsley

There’s no question that Dorit Kemsley is behind some of Bravo’s most iconic interview looks of all time. Her aesthetic oozes luxury as she routinely drapes herself in high-end designer duds, including vintage pieces from her expertly curated archive. Another mainstay in Dorit’s tea-spilling ensembles: incredible hairstyles. Along with her go-to hair artist, Justine Marjan, Dorit has gifted us jaw-dropping hair creations that range from sculptural to blinged out and everything in between. 

But this year, as Dorit prepared for one of her toughest seasons yet on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she took a decidedly more restrained approach to her interview ensemble. As the mom of two explains in the video above, she channeled a “strong and powerful, but effortless” vibe as she selected a gold vintage Chanel blazer to anchor her look. “It just spoke to me because it was like strength,” Dorit says of the tweed jacket lined with fringe. “Then it was just about feeling a bit empowered. I wanted the outfit to really speak for itself.” The finishing accessories: a “big” and “bulky” Chanel statement necklace, a bevy of “old and new” Chanel rings, and diamond-lined hoops to add “a little bit of sparkle.” She shares, “I wanted to feel like a boss babe — ‘babe’ being the operative word.”

When it came time for glam, Dorit also decided to venture into new territory. While her makeup was “very clean and fresh,” her hairstyle represented a major first for her interview looks. “Isn’t it wild?” Dorit asks in the video, noting that she has never worn a ’do quite like this one.
