Dorit Kemsley Is Aware Her Hairstyles Are "a Little Over the Top"

If you've ever wanted to know what's going through Dorit Kemsley's head when she's putting together iconic designer looks like that "Chanel mall cop" outfit, there's good news. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom just chatted about her style and all things shopping and fashion in a wide-ranging new podcast interview with Glamour.

How to Watch

After all, it's not just her hair that's always changing: Dorit explains that she dresses to fit her mood, whether she's inspired by a runway trend or some classic, vintage silhouette. "The show is a great platform for someone like me who enjoys the fashion part of it, it's a great space for me to play," she told the magazine's Perrie Samotin.

Dorit was even an open book when it comes to her fashion budget. Yes, she does have one. When asked if she was aware of price tags and whether she ever think to herself that a bag is ridiculously priced, Dorit thought about it and said: "I'm not sure that I say to myself, I think this bag is ridiculously priced. What I would say to myself  is probably, 'Ok, this is a nice treat, I've earned it, I deserve it, I like it a lot.'"

She continued, "I think when it comes to buying clothes, and shoes, and bags, for me, it's very much a part of my life. So therefore, I can justify it.  But I'm not reckless, I don't go out and spend upwards of $50,000 for something I'm going to wear once. Is $5k, $6K, $7,000 a lot of money for a dress? Absolutely. Believe me, it took me years to get to that place. Once I feel like I've earned it and I have places that I really can wear it, and it makes me happy, I feel like it's justified in my mind."

She also thinks about the overall state of her wardrobe while shopping. "When I'm spending money on furniture or designing something, I might rethink a very expensive bag," the Beverly Beach by Dorit entrepreneur said. "Or say to myself,  'Maybe I'll buy it for Mother's Day.' I try to justify it within how my life is at the moment. 'Do I need this? No I really don't. I have 15 other black bags, ok.' I like it and I'd love to buy it. Maybe I'll buy it for myself on my birthday and then come my birthday I might want something else."

But this Beverly Hills fashionista definitely keeps up with the latest trends of the moment. "Let's just put it this way. Not a month that goes by that there's not a new thing in my closet," Dorit joked.
