If you own a home in 2019 and you don’t have a breakfast nook, then trust us, you want one. Maybe this design feature will one day become dated, but right now, it’s key to have an on-trend kitchen. What is it? Essentially, it’s an eating area built into your kitchen that is far more casual than your dining room — it’s where you grab a bagel and read the paper in the morning, it’s where kids eat snacks after school, but it’s not for Thanksgiving dinner, ya know?
And if we were to name one Real Housewife the queen of breakfast nooks, it would be Tamra Judge. Back in her former “jinxed” home, The Real Housewives of Orange County mama built a nook into her u-shaped island (you might remember she got the inspo from former castmate Meghan King Edmonds!) and the result was stunning. The juxtaposition of the nook’s farmhouse details like grainy wood and rough linen throw pillows next to the island’s crisp white Cambria quartz countertops was perfection.
So much so that when she put that home on the market, we actually thought to ourselves, “How could she leave that kitchen?!” Luckily, upon moving into her new $2 million six-bedroom home in Coto de Caza, Tamra got herself another nook, and let’s just say it’s equally amazing.
Totally different from her last one, this one is built into the kitchen’s exterior wall, lined with windows overlooking the backyard and pool. Awash in natural light, the area is warmer and less structured than her last nook, which was more of a booth, whereas this is a table with a bench. Either way, Tamra definitely winning at the kitchen game right now!
