Since the moment Scheana Shay announced that she was expecting a baby girl with boyfriend Brock Davies, she has continued to bring her signature flirty, sexy, and cool style to her maternity wardrobe. The Vanderpump Rules beauty has rocked itty bitty bikinis, sleek bodycon frocks, and pretty corset dresses with the greatest of ease.
And yet, Scheana has certainly faced her share of unfair criticism for those fashion choices. In an exclusive interview with Bravo Insider, Scheana explained her reaction to internet opinions on her style choices throughout her pregnancy. "[Sometimes] I snap," the mom-to-be, who is expected to give birth any day now, confessed. While other times, "I just try to respond [to] with kindness."
In one particularly frustrating encounter, "I had several people [on social media] ask where one of my dresses was from. And it was just a dress from White Box Boutique in a size large. It wasn't a maternity dress. So I posted that on my [Instagram] Story, and I was like 'I actually don't have many maternity looks, I've just gone up several sizes, here's where you can shop my dress.'
"And then this woman messages me and she's like, 'You're not setting a good example. There are women who only can wear maternity and they can't fit in normal clothes. Like how dare you.'
"And I'm like 'Okay but I'm not posting for all women. I had several ask where this specific dress was from.'"
Naysayers aside, Scheana was determined to "still dress cute" on her own terms while expecting. "Just go up several sizes," she continued. "That was the advice I got... It's just annoying when people have to attack every little thing and I'm just posting my fashion."
But finding the right 'fit for her bump along the way wasn't always a breeze. "I felt like I didn't really have anything cute to wear until my bump actually popped out. I just felt bloated all the time and I didn't look pregnant."
More recently, she found her stride with a little help from curve-hugging silhouettes. "I love doing jumpsuits. I like being in fitted things. Whenever I'm just at home and I'm wearing sweats, I feel like I look like a marshmallow."
As for the labels that she's turned to time and time again for everything from date night jumpsuits to cozy crop tops, Scheana revealed, "I like to wear cute, fitted dresses. White Fox, Pretty Little Thing, those have been like my go-to brands. Honestly, I've [gotten] a lot of stuff on Amazon. I just like to be in cute, fitted, stretchy things. I have a couple of cute pieces from Tiff Marie Maternity."
She even posed for a series of stunning maternity photos — and tried her hand at styling one of the looks, a beautiful pearl-adorned sheer number by swimwear brand Beach Bunny, herself. "It's kind of Britney Spears' Toxic," she noted. "I love it."
Surprising no one, Scheana has already passed down her love of all things fashion to her "mini Scheana" — even before she's officially arrived. "I'm gonna have to change her five times a day for her to wear all the clothes that we have for her. She is fully stocked for her first nine months of life. It's ridiculous. My mom has a collection of 75+ bows."
Like mother, like daughter.
